Another interesting note about the investigation, there was a Spanish influenza outbreak in Tulsa in 1919, just two years before the race massacre. A group of scientists have discovered 280-million-year-old fossil tracks in a remote area of the Grand Canyon that predate the the appearance of the earliest dinosaurs, according to a press release from the Grand Canyon National Park. According to the press release, an international team of paleontologists discovered "extremely well-preserved trackways of primitive tetrapods (four-footed animals) which inhabited an ancient desert environment."Paleontologists recognized the fossil tracks and say they were produced by a "long-extinct relative of very early reptiles... of extinct tetrapods known as diadectomorphs, a primitive group that possessed characteristics of both amphibians and reptiles."The characteristics of the newly discovered tracks suggest the creature that made the prints walked on all four legs, with each foot containing five "clawless digits.""Although the actual track maker for the Grand Canyon footprints may never be known, the Grand Canyon trackways preserve the travel of a very early terrestrial vertebrate," the press release stated. 1079

A Macomb County, Michigan, mom is furious.She says her special needs son was silenced and shamed by adults at a school Christmas concert in Clinton Township.Her anger and disappointment has been echoed by many on social media. The L’Anse Creuse Middle School concert was earlier this week and 14-year-old Dominic Schroeder was super excited. He plays the saxophone and has been practicing the performance in band class and at home too.Dominic is cognitively impaired. Because of his special needs, he often practices with a plastic digital saxophone with ear-buds. The device can help the instructors measure his progression. On concert day Dominic was ready to perform using his own shiny saxophone. But according to his family, Dominic was told by an administrator that he could not play his instrument with the band. He was instructed to use the plastic saxophone - with earphones.Dominic was upset and his loved ones were too. We’re told he and his family did not agree to this. They also say, with this device, Dominic’s the only one who can hear his music. It is silent to the rest of the world.The family believes this is discrimination and exclusion. When guests check in to Magnolia Hotel in downtown Denver, they’re greeted by new safety measures and staff cleaning more often. From social distancing markers on the floor to hand sanitizer at the door ,this is the new norm for hotels operating during a pandemic. “It’s been very difficult in hospitality with COVID-19,” said Sarah Treadway, president and co-CEO of Stout Street Hospitality and Magnolia Hotels, a hospitality company with hotels across the country which had to lay off 95% of its employees during the COVID-19 crisis. “Many of our employees have worked for us for more than 30 years,” Treadway said. “So, it’s been devastating.” It’s devastating both emotionally and financially as coronavirus concerns have closed down thousands of hotels around the world. “A lot of people are feeling a lot of pain,” said Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Rogers says about two thirds of all hotels have laid off at least half of their workers. He added that many hotels that closed due to COVID-19 might never reopen. “In fact, the experts say the industry will not fully recover until 2023,” Rogers said. To hopefully help expedite that timeline, industry leaders are now focusing on ne-w safety standards. Marriott International is rolling out a new Commitment to Clean Program which claims to go above and beyond normal protocols. In Las Vegas, a city with 150,000 hotel rooms, MGM Resorts has started working with medical experts to develop a plan that will allow them to safely welcome guests back. Back at Magnolia Hotels, their increase attention to details is paying off. “I’m very proud to say none of our staff members have come down with COVID-19 because of our cleanliness standards from the beginning,” Treadway said. This extra cleaning, however, comes at a cost.
