He has a huge heart and always puts others before himself, and I was really drawn to that," said Kathleen.Four days later, the graduate of The Citadel asked her to move to San Diego as he reported for duty at Camp Pendleton. She said yes. During the cross-country trip, she wondered aloud, 'What are we doing?'""He said, 'Kathleen, trust is a choice ... Located at 1050 Cannon Road just off Interstate 5, the pumpkin patch will be open every day through Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.The family business has been a u-pick strawberry company since 1972, adding pumpkins and a corn maze in the last six years.This year, there will be two corn mazes. "Right now, Daddy's deployed," mother, Sonia Torres said. While her husband defends the country as Sgt. Major of Batallion 1-4, she defends the homefront as she cares for her two children, Jasmine and Al."My mom means the world to me. She does everything for me. Cook, kisses me good night, everything," 11-year-old Al said.With no family nearby, military mothers like Torres are in a unique parenting situation. They play the roles of both mom and dad. "Since Daddy left, we needed something to fill that void, and we found Tae Kwon Do. We [Al] went from white belt to yellow belt to orange belt, Friday night." Torres said proudly.They often witness milestones alone. Jasmine celebrated her 13th birthday yesterday. "My mom is well, there's no words to describe it. She's always there for me.
