There is no question the coronavirus pandemic is changing how Americans shop, with an increase in delivery, drive thru and curbside pick-up.Later this year, fans of Wawa will be able to get their favorite convenience store items in a drive thru. The east coast-based company announced they are building a freestanding drive-thru at an intersection in Lower Bucks County Pennsylvania. They are also adding drive-thru features to a Wawa under construction in Westhampton, New Jersey.In a press release, Wawa says the standalone store, not attached to a gas station, will feature “state-of-the-art technology to quickly order Wawa’s most popular food and beverages, including value meals, combo meals along with coffee and specialty beverages.” If the drive-thru line gets too long, customers will be able to pull into curbside parking and wait for their order.Construction will start this month, with an opening planned for December.“We are hoping to learn from the layout, workflow and traffic flow at this location, as we continue to explore alternatives for longer term application to our stores post-COVID-19,” said Terri Micklin, Director of Construction, Wawa. 1172

This data hack is huge -- 1.4 billion passwords are now floating around on the dark web. In December, a massive data leak was discovered, and many computer gurus are capable of accessing the information, said cybersecurity expert Dan Petro. "Certainly like one of the biggest password leaks ever," said Petro.Hackers combined smaller lists with new hacked data into one massive database."If you're like almost everybody else, you probably just have one password or maybe a small set of passwords you use for basically everything. So having these leaked online is threatening not just to your one account but perhaps all the other ones," Petro said.Rob Hanna was one of the many internet users whose password was exposed. Within seconds of accessing the database, someone could easily find his hacked password and email."I’m really quite stunned about that. That's scary. And I've been pretty careful about trying to really manage that for a lot of years," said Hanna.Even if your bank account password is different, Petro said with access to your email account, hackers can get into your bank using the "forgot password" feature. It often emails you a link that lets you or a hacker set up a new password.Security experts recommend frequently changing passwords, using hard-to-guess passwords. For those who have a tough time remembering passwords, something called 2-factor authentication can help.Most email services let you turn it on in your settings. Whenever someone tries to sign into your account from a new computer or phone, not only do they need your password but a secret code texted from your email company to your phone. You must enter both."That way if your password gets leaked in a large online database such as this one attacker still won't be able to log in," said Petro.Hanna, who has kept a spreadsheet of his emails and passwords for different sites, now has a task ahead of him: figure out which of the several dozen logins he uses must be changed so no one does any damage using his hacked information."So if that kind of got out and someone really wanted to kind of take a run at me that could give them a lot control," Hanna said. 2199

There's a new program aimed at helping Black and Latinx students succeed.The Equity in Education Initiative was built through a partnership between Walmart and North Carolina A&T State University.The program acknowledges many of these students start at a disadvantage, because they go through under-funded school districts.“These students are coming in sometimes with academic gaps that are due to no fault of their own. It's not a difference in ability, it's just a difference in their zip code,” said Kevin James, Dean of the Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T.The program is broken up into four focus areas, addressing specific needs of different students. They include financial resources and mentorship while in school, and then network building to create career opportunities their white counterparts may already have.“So many people actually obtain their jobs through networks, because they know someone who knows someone, and many of these students, most of them come in without those built in networks and their families don't have those networks,” said James.The hope is that the positive effects of the program will extend outside of school, allowing successful students to invest and give back.“It's not just about the impact on the student. It's about multi-generational impact on families and about extending those impacts into communities that often times have been under resourced,” said James.Some parts of the program, like the Black Male Initiative, will make resources automatically available to students.There will be an application process for the Leadership Cohort and scholarships.The program starts early next year. 1683

This past spring, teachers from West Virginia to Oklahoma walked out of their classrooms and onto the steps of state capitols to protest low pay, overcrowded classrooms and cuts to school funding.Oklahoma teacher Jacobi Crowley was one of the teachers who participated in the strikes.“I dunno if I can be a 20 to 40-year educator,” says Crowley. “I love my job and what I do, but if things do not get better, I might have to start looking at a different career.”If things go the way he hopes this November, he will have a different career as a state senator, one who sees education as priority number 1.“We have to be fully funded,” Crowley says. “That’s the number one thing.”Crowley is one of hundreds of teachers nationwide who decided to run for public office this year. In Oklahoma alone, more than 100 teachers filed to run, and over half of them made it through their primary races in June.“They are getting frustrated with seeing the lack of support, the lack of funding and the lack of leadership out of state legislators in Oklahoma City, making those things possible for educators to be successful,” Crowley expresses.Educators say it’s a frustration that’s been building for years.In 2011, teachers staged a walkout and camped out for weeks at the Wisconsin State Capitol, protesting Gov. Scott Walker’s bill that gutted their unions. Ultimately, they were unsuccessful.But Wisconsin’s Superintendent of Schools saw that as a catalyst and decided to take matters into his own hands.“I believe the best way to fix this is to have an educator as governor of the State of Wisconsin,” says Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers.Evers will take on incumbent Gov. Scott Walker this November.Cut in funding and teacher pay has been some of the core issues of the protests. TOLEDO, Ohio — On Monday, federal authorities announced the arrests of a man and a woman in connection to plotting two separate attacks in Ohio in concert with undercover agents.In a press conference, federal authorities said a man from Holland, Ohio was arrested after planning an attack on a Toledo-area synagogue. In a separate case, agents also arrested a Toledo woman after she purchased black powder and screws that authorities believe were going to be used to make a bomb as part of a terrorist attack.Arrest 1: Joseph DamonJoseph Damon, 21, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of attempting to provide support for ISIS, according to the Department of Justice.Earlier this year, Damon was in communication with undercover agents after he received attention from federal agents for posting photographs of knives and firearms on his social media accounts, as well as a photograph distributed by the media wing of ISIS.In conversations with undercover agents, Damon said he would be willing to participate in violent attacks, say federal officials.On Oct. 30., following the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Damon allegedly told an agent, "I admire what the guy did with the shooting actually. I can see myself carrying out this type of operation inshallah. They wouldn't even expect [an attack] in my area."In December, Damon continued to talk with authorities about carrying out attacks on synagogues.Damon met with an undercover agent on Dec. 6, writing down the name and address of the synagogue where the attack was to occur. Later that day, the agent told Damon he purchased rifles for the attack. The two met on Dec. 7 at a location where Damon took a black duffel bag carrying two rifles. He was then arrested, according to federal authorities.Arrest 2: Elizabeth LecronElizabeth Lecron, 23, was charged with one count of transportation of explosive material for the purpose of harming others and property.Lecron received the attention of federal agents earlier this year after she frequently posted photographs and comments on social media glorifying mass murderers, including the Columbine shooters and convicted church killer Dylann Roof.After her social media account was deleted, Lecron created a new one under the profile  "CharlestonChurchMiracle," where she would post photos and comments about mass casualty attacks.In August, undercover FBI agents talked with Lecron, who told them she and an associate created a plan to commit an "upscale mass murder" at a Toledo bar.In September, Lecron discussed with undercover agents a pipeline bombing and mentioned a good place to carry out an attack was where she worked because she believed they were polluting the river behind the plant.By December, she talked with an agent and agreed to buy black powder needed to make a bomb, according to information published by feds in a news release.Federal authorities said Lecron met with a source at a retail sporting good stores on Dec. 8, where she entered the store by herself and bought two pounds of Hodgson Triple Seven Muzzleloading Propellant. She went to a larger retailer in the Toledo area where she purchased 655 screws of various sizes, some as large as 3 inches, according to federal authorities. 3334
