TIANJIN, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has called for government and party officials to maintain their political integrity and lead the people to overcome difficulties amid hardships.     Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour to the northern coastal city of Tianjin from Sunday to Monday. BERN, Switzerland, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- China and Switzerland decided on Tuesday to begin a joint feasibility study on creating a bilateral free trade zone in the second half of this year in preparation for formally launching negotiations on the issue.     During talks in the Swiss capital, visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and President of the Swiss Confederation Hans-Rudolf Merz exchanged views on the current international financial and economic situation and briefed each other on the policies and measures China and Switzerland have taken regarding the international financial crisis. BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares staged a broad-based rebound on Wednesday, making up the previous day's losses after an overnight rally on Wall Street.     The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index finished at 2,017 points, a gain of 6.05 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 6.14 percent to 6,679 points.     Combined turnover shrank to 120.81 billion yuan (17.26 billion U.S. dollars) from the previous day's 145 billion yuan.     Gains outnumbered losses by 865 to eight in Shanghai and 743 to two in Shenzhen.  BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has issued a notice ordering all members of the PLA and the Chinese People's Armed Police Corps (PAPC) to study a recent instruction on value made byHu Jintao, chairman of the Central Military Commission.     Addressing a recent military conference, Hu urged servicemen to strengthen their spiritual pillar and foster the core value of "Beloyal to the Party, love the people, serve the nation, be devoted to the mission, and worship credit."     Hu's instruction has put forward a major strategic task for ideological and political building of the Army under the new historic conditions, said the notice. BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's Foreign Ministry has demanded that the U.S. Embassy to China facilitate travel for the families of those killed and injured in Friday's tour bus crash near the Hoover Dam in Arizona. In a statement released Sunday, the ministry confirmed that six Chinese nationals died and nine were injured, including one from Hong Kong.     The Chinese Embassy in the United States and Consulate General in Los Angeles immediately dispatched a team assist U.S. authorities with treating the injured and investigating the accident.
