(KGTV) - Wineries in the East County call themselves "hidden gems," offering San Diegans a chance to get away without having to travel as far as Temecula and other more well known wine producing areas.Granite Lion Cellars in Jamul grows 17 varietals. As they shift operations outside their tasting room, they are taking advantage of being in a wilderness area with a waterfall, trails to explore and picnic tables in the shade.They are family and dog friendly, and have contracted with a number of food trucks to offer food on site, as well as outdoor tastings in a more intimate setting.Miriam Valdez, Granite Lion Cellars' tasting room manager, said, "We are used to telling people about our wines, now we actually have to limit contact." While also struggling to sell more wine, Valdez added, "We are right now maybe 60-70 days out from harvest, and our warehouse is full, so the wine has to go somewhere."Sommelier David Whited said they're offering specials on cases of wine and wine club memberships, in an effort to move inventory.They're also breaking ground on a brand new barrel cave and tasting room in the hope that one day they'll be able to move back indoors.Granite Lion has retained and retrained their staff in order to stay in compliance with all of the sanitation and safety rules.They've also donated wine to the community -- to be turned into hand sanitizer. KEARNY MESA (CNS) - A man armed with a BB gun robbed a Korean restaurant in Kearny Mesa, San Diego police said.The robbery took place just before 10 p.m. Friday at Woomiok, located in the 3800 block of Convoy Street, SDPD said.The thief, allegedly a former employee of Woomiok's, stole 0 from the register, SDPD said. While reaching over to grab the money from the register, the employee he threatened with the gun, grabbed it. During the struggle for the gun the suspect dropped it and ran from the restaurant heading southeast through the parking lot.The robber was described as Hispanic. JULIAN (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Julian on Saturday.California Highway Patrol officers headed to state Route 79 near Sunrise Highway about 1:50 p.m. for a report that a Toyota 4Runner had struck a motorcycle and pinned the rider underneath the vehicle, according to a CHP incident log.The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cal Fire San Diego. No identifying information on the victim was available.One-way traffic control was in place while authorities investigated and worked to clean up the crash, according to the CHP. 579

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri says it is seeing a disturbing trend in child sexual assault cases.Children are abusing children."I think that was kind of shocking to us all as we were collecting this data, is that almost half of our perpetrators are minors," said Heidi Olson, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Coordinator.The SANE program's data shows perpetrators are likely to be between 11- and 15-years-old."Another thing we're noticing is a lot of those sexual assaults are violent sexual assaults, so they include physical violence in addition to sexual violence," said Jennifer Hansen, a child abuse pediatrician at Children's Mercy.Recently, the International Association of Forensic Nurses said the hospital is in the top five percent in the United States, which includes hospitals that see adults, in the volume of sexual assault victims they see.Last year, Children's Mercy saw 444 kids who were sexually abused within the last five days. That number rounds out to around 1,000 a year when they include the children who report sexual assault after five days.Victims are most likely girls around 4- to 8-years-old.Hansen and Olson say the number each year continues to rise. They can't pinpoint for sure if it's because Children's Mercy is a recognized children's facility with the capacity to serve more people, or if more children are reporting the assault now than in years past."To sexually assault someone else, that's a learned behavior," Olson said.Nurses are also finding more and more that pornography is playing a role in these cases. That can include a victim being forced to see porn, a victim reporting that the perpetrator said they'd watched porn, being forced to do something shown in a pornographic video, or a victim being recorded doing a sexual act.Hansen and Olson say they're noticing kids are being exposed to porn at very young ages, around 4- or 5-years-old. They say a child can develop unrealistic and dangerous ideas about intimate relationships by being exposed to violent, graphic porn."We know that it's probably multi-factorial. I think there are lots of things that contribute to this, but that is the question; How are we, as a society, failing in such a way that we have 11, 12, and 14-year-old boys, primarily, committing violent sexual assaults?"
