Kroger is requesting customers no longer openly carry firearms into its stores, even in states where open carry is legal, the company announced Tuesday evening.The announcement comes just hours after Walmart made a similar announcement. Walmart also said it would end the sales of some firearms and ammunition. Kroger stopped selling guns last year.Kroger, like Walmart, also said it would add its voice to the growing number of corporations calling on elected officials to pass gun reform laws, such as requiring stronger background checks."Kroger has demonstrated with our actions that we recognize the growing chorus of Americans who are no longer comfortable with the status quo and who are advocating for concrete and common sense gun reforms," the company said in a statement.As mass shootings have grown in frequency, death toll and prominence in recent years, many big companies have faced pressure to address their role in the crisis.After a shooter in Parkland, Florida, killed 17 people last year, Dick's Sporting Goods announced it would stop selling assault-style rifles. Southern District of Indiana Judge Tanya Walton Pratt made the order to vacate Taylor’s sentence on account of Taylor’s defense attorney was “lacking experience and preparation in federal court criminal proceedings.”In December 2015, Taylor was sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to 12 counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography and conspiracy to distribute and receive child pornography. Three of the sexual exploitation of children counts of were based on videos that the court determined “do not depict sexually explicit conduct.” At the time, Taylor’s attorney failed to recognize that and advised him to plead guilty to all counts, the court found.It was also Taylor’s attorney’s first criminal case in federal court, and he “did not undertake the study and research he needed to competently assist Taylor,” Pratt wrote.“There is no question that competent work by counsel would have produced a different outcome in this case,” Pratt wrote. Since the entire plea agreement was negotiated as a package, Taylor’s case will begin again from the beginning. Taylor worked for 12 years as the executive director of the Jared Foundation, a nonprofit Fogle founded to combat childhood obesity. LAS VEGAS — A video of a "cowboy arrest" in Las Vegas is going viral. The video has been viewed more than 231,000 times (at the time of this writing) on Facebook and has been shared almost 6,000 times. It has also received hundreds of comments.It all started around 1:35 p.m. Dec. 11 near Sam's Town hotel-casino."I see this helicopter flying around, like right above us and so I'm like they must be doing something wrong. And right when I thought about that 18 cop cars came barreling down this road right next to the arena," said Cayden Cox, a cowboy and professional cattle roper.Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spotted a car that was reportedly stolen and tried to stop it. The people in the car — three in total — attempted to escape, but hit a horse trailer near Horseman's Park."I'm like, 'oh shoot we need to go catch the son of a buck.' So I come running down through there and I almost knocked over this older gentleman and I felt bad but I got to them and right when I got to him but they all followed me we're like 60 guys behind us," added Cox.One of the people in the stolen car jumped a fence at the park and began running across the fairgrounds. That's when the cowboys got involved. They yelled at man to stop and threatened to lasso him if he didn't."By the time I kind of had my rope up and [the suspect] had his hands up, right when I was thinking about roping him," said Cox.According to a man who saw what happened, the alleged car thief immediately dropped to his knees and a couple of the cowboys pinned him to the ground until the police officers arrived and took him into custody.
