SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Driving on roads in San Diego during the holiday season can be a headache, as residents and tourists alike deal with increased traffic caused by extra congestion. This year, during Thanksgiving week, the roads have been a little bit safer, according to statistics released by the California Highway Patrol. San Diego County DUI arrests and auto fatalities were both down from last year, for the time period between Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Friday at 6:00 a.m. Going into the weekend there have been a total of 21 DUI arrests recorded in San Diego, a decrease from 27 arrests from 2017. RELATED: Check 10News?traffic updatesThe results are also reflected across the state, where the 294 DUI arrests are down from 386 a year ago. There have been no fatal car accidents in San Diego, compared to one at this time last year. Across the state there were 17 car accidents resulting in death, compared to 19 in 2017. The CHP reports that of the 13 fatalities that occurred in their jurisdiction, five were not wearing seat belts.  1142

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Eight new cases of hepatitis A were reported throughout the county over the last week, according to the San Diego County Health Department. In total, 544 cases of hepatitis A have been reported throughout San Diego County. The new numbers come after the Board of Supervisors Monday extended the state of emergency amid the hep A outbreak.  RELATED: Board of Supervisors extends state of emergency for hepatitis A outbreakSince the outbreak began, 20 people have died from the infection. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- High surf is creating dangerous conditions for swimmers hitting the beach throughout San Diego County. A High Surf Advisory is in effect San Diego coastal cities from Monday morning at 8 A.M. until Tuesday night at 10 P.M.Just before 10 A.M. Monday, SDFD Lifeguards shut down the Ocean Beach Pier.They are also cautioning any swimmers and surfers who are not advanced to stay out of the water until the advisory expires.Many advanced surfers tell 10News they have been looking forward to this day for a long time. Those who hit the water Monday took advantage of the seven to 11 foot waves along the coast, saying it’s not just the swell and the direction but the time between the waves and the decreased winds that make for great surf conditions. "The quality and the length its just a great day a great day for everybody,” one surfer tells 10 News.One group of surfers found out first-hand how dangerous these conditions are. They were taking a boat to surf off of Point Loma when the waves flipped in Monday afternoon. The surfers escaped without injury, but the boat had to be towed back to shore. 1130

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a woman wanted in two grocery store bank robberies.The woman, described as a Caucasian blonde in her 20s standing about 5-feet 6-inches tall, is believed to be behind two heists in La Mesa and Rolando areas this month.On Sept. 12, investigators say the woman walked into a US Bank inside the Vons grocery store at 6155 El Cajon Blvd. just before 3 p.m. She presented a demand note to the teller and fled with an unknown amount of cash.
