LITCHFIELD PARK, Arizona — Officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office say an 11-year-old boy shot and killed his grandmother then turned the gun on himself in Litchfield Park on Saturday evening. According to MCSO, just after 5 p.m., deputies received a call from a man near Litchfield Road and Wigwam Boulevard who reported that his grandson had shot and killed his wife, 65-year-old Yvonne Woodard and then shot and killed himself.The grandfather told deputies that he and his wife had full custody of their grandson. The couple reportedly asked the grandson to clean his room and pick up after himself throughout the day as he was "being stubborn about it."Officials say the two then sat down on their couch in the living room to watch television. The grandson then reportedly came up behind them and shot Yvonne in the back of the head with a gun that belonged to the grandfather. The grandfather then ran after the grandson but quickly returned to render aid to his wife. Moments later he reported that the grandson had then shot himself.At that point, the grandfather retrieved the gun and called 9-1-1. "In the preliminary stages of this investigation there had been no previous signs that the grandson might harm someone or himself and there was no cause for concern prior to this event," MCSO said in a news release. The investigation remains ongoing at this time. 1425

(KGTV) — Authorities are offering up to ,000 for tips leading to the arrest of the person who burglarized a gun shop in La Mesa last month.At about 11 p.m. on May 30, an unknown man burglarized Alex Imports Gun Shop located at 7839 University Ave. in La Mesa, according to the ATF. The suspect stole nine long guns, investigators say.The burglary happened the same night that rioting and looting occurred around the city.The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, about 30 years old, with black hair, about 5-feet 8-inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds.Anyone with information is asked to call the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (888-283-8477). 679

LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas family is living in fear after two men broke in while their teenage daughter hid in a bedroom closet.17-year-old Maxeen is still shook up after what happened inside her home near Cactus and Interstate 15 on Saturday.“It sucks to just be alone and I’ve never been in a situation like that,” she said.Maxeen said she was home alone Saturday when someone started ringing the doorbell repeatedly around 2:30 p.m.Maxeen felt something was wrong, and that’s when she says a man showed up in the backyard breaking in through the sliding glass door.“I tried to call my mom but she was at work, so I kind of ran upstairs and I knew he was going to come to the back,” the teen said.Maxeen dialed 911 and hid in one of the closets in a bedroom.The home’s interior surveillance camera shows two men running up the stairs where Maxeen was hiding.Maxeen’s mom is thankful her daughter is OK, but says this frightening ordeal has hit the entire family.“We’re very disturbed right now,” Maxeen's mother, Barbara, said. “It feels like it’s not real, but it is. (KGTV) — Imagine swimming when suddenly hundreds of fins start gliding through the water around you.Local beachgoers may be familiar with the sight, as shown in recently captured drone video in La Jolla. The video shows a mesmerizing view of the massive grouping of leopard sharks, about 4- to 5-foot long, swimming off the coast.Andrew Nosal, a professor and marine biologist at University of San Diego, recorded the video Monday — he also studied the sharks extensively for his dissertation at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.According to Nosal, the gathering, while perhaps intimidating to some, isn't all that rare.RELATED: Killer whale pod preys on dolphins off Southern California coast"Group formation ... is a common behavior for leopard sharks. In La Jolla, these leopard sharks are mostly (over 95%) mature pregnant females," Nosal said.
