A 14-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of shooting a teen in the arm at a Southern California high school Friday morning, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.The shooting happened at or near Highland High School in Palmdale around 7 a.m. PT, even as some students still were arriving at school, sheriff's Capt. (KGTV) — Stark similarities between a San Francisco brewery's beer can and the iconic soft drink cups used at In-N-Out prompted the burger chain to issue a cease and desist letter, though not without some light-hearted humor.Seven Stills Brewing recently crafted a new Neapolitan-style beer called "In-N-Stout," wrapped in a design resembling the much-loved burger chain's cup featuring palm trees and its signature yellow arrow.The resemblance is uncanny. (KGTV/AP) - Snow is falling the Sierra Nevada mountains as summer winds to an end.Friday is the first day of fall and it is a wet start for California.A rare cool weather system moving south from Oregon is bringing rain and snow showers.National Weather Service forecaster Hanna Chandler says several inches of snow are expected in elevations of at least 6,000 feet of the Northern Sierra.The Weather Service says snow is falling in elevations of around 7,000 feet along the Interstate 80 and highway and 50 corridors. 526

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit a remote part of Alaska on Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey.There have been no reports of injuries to people, or damage to places or pipelines, after the quake on Alaska's North Slope, according to the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Alaska Earthquake Center.The tiny town of Kaktovik is closest to the epicenter, about 52 miles away.There were several strong aftershocks following the quake, according to USGS data and the earthquake center.
