LONG BEACH (CNS) - A woman was killed early Monday afternoon by a man who used a scooter to assault her on a street in Long Beach.Officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of North Obispo Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department Public Information Officer Shaunna Dandoy.``The victim is believed to be a female adult who was walking eastbound towards Obispo and 64th (Street)'' when a man ran up and began assaulting her, Dandoy said.A bystander tried to help, at which time the suspect grabbed a scooter and used it to continue attacking the woman, according to Dandoy.The suspect was last seen running west from the location on foot. Fire department personnel responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene, Dandoy said. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A vigil held Wednesday for a bicyclist killed at an intersection in South Los Angeles on Tuesday became the scene of another hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian."The driver of a tan-colored Honda Accord drove through the vigil at the intersection of Manchester and Normandie avenues shortly after 1 p.m.," Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im said.The video from the scene captured the sedan striking the pedestrian, who is then flung into the air, appearing to hit his head on the car windshield and finally landing on the asphalt.RELATED: GOOD SAMARITAN HIT WHILE HELPING MOTORISTAfter rolling to his feet, he hopped over to the sidewalk on one foot, seemingly injuring his right leg. He then collapsed onto the sidewalk where onlookers came to his aid.As the suspected hit-and-run motorist drove off, a group from the dozens of bicyclists taking part in the vigil attempted to follow the vehicle, including people running after the driver.During the vigil, "some rocks and bottles were thrown toward responding officers and a patrol vehicle, but no officers were injured and no arrests were made," Im said.Police were able to eventually clear the intersection. A department SUV can be seen having its rear window smashed.According to the LAPD's South Traffic Division, the bicyclist killed Tuesday was a man in his early 20s, who was struck by a white Porsche Cayenne SUV. The victim was identified in news reports as 22-year-old Frederick Frazier."The driver of the SUV that hit the young man was heading east on Manchester when the collision occurred. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Police worked Saturday morning to disperse crowds in downtown Los Angeles as multiple businesses were looted following demonstrations against police brutality following the in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis Monday .Hundreds were reportedly arrested, and at least five police officers were injured, multiple media outlets reported.The Target store at Seventh and Figueroa streets, a Rite Aid store at 7th and Hope streets, along with the 6th Street Market and the Starbucks on Sixth Street between Broadway and Main Street and jewelry stores near Sixth Street and Broadway were among the businesses looted just before midnight Friday.A trash can was set on fire near Olympic Boulevard and Hill Street and quickly extinguished by officers. Three fires were set near the intersection of Hill and Seventh streets, one in the intersection, another south of the intersection on Hill Street and a third on a sidewalk near a building.As Los Angeles firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames, someone in the crowd grabbed a department fire hose and tossed it into the fire burning in the intersection.At least one Los Angeles Police Department cruiser was tagged with graffiti.Police set up skirmish lines throughout the downtown area and, in at least one instance, fired non-lethal ammunition as they pushed a crowd out of the area, some in the crowd stopping to hide behind vehicles to throw objects at officers.At least 300 people were reportedly arrested, KABC7 reported.
