Two people were found dead in a South Euclid, Ohio home early Saturday morning following a 12-hour standoff tied to the investigation of a Beachwood, Ohio doctor who was found shot to death on Thursday.Around 7:30 p.m Friday, SWAT converged on a second house belonging to Dr. Richard Warn in the 4300 block of Elmwood Road to serve a warrant with homicide detectives. Warn was found dead the previous day inside his Beachwood home on Brentwood Road.SWAT officers made entry into the residence using an armored vehicle and were met with gunfire. Authorities retreated and over the next 12 hours attempted to make contact with the people inside. On Saturday morning SWAT entered the house and found two white males dead inside, police said.The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is processing the scene for evidence.Police said the two men were persons of interest in the doctor's death. Tropical Storm Beta is gaining strength off the coast of southern Texas, as Subtropical Storm Alpha makes landfall in Portugal Friday afternoon; both are making history because of their names and timing.This is only the second time in recent history more than 21 significant storms in the Atlantic have been named in a year. (KGTV) - A fire broke out Friday afternoon in Valley Center, threatening the small north San Diego County community.The flames were reported about 1:30 p.m. in brush near Miller Lane and Cole Grade Lane, an area surrounded by farms and homes. TULSA, Oklahoma -- The suspect in an Amber Alert and stabbing was seen smiling Tuesday afternoon after her arrest.Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma said 39-year-old Taheerah Ahmad stabbed her 11-year-old daughter on Monday night. The 11-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in "very" critical condition, where she remains unconscious.An Amber Alert was issued after police said Ahmad also abducted her eight-year-old child. Ahmad was located around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot in Tulsa. The 8-year-old child was also found safe. Police said citizens walking in the area noticed the vehicle and contacted authorities. Ahmad was taken into custody without incident. Police said she had been in that parking area for 17 hours before being found. Police said the woman admitted to the crime. Ahmad said she became upset with her children, and bound two of her children's hands with duct tape. She said the 11-year-old child fought back, and she stabbed the child 50 to 60 times and hit her in the head with a pick ax, according to police. She was arrested on counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, first-degree arson and abuse of a child. 1209
VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis has named 13 new cardinals, including Washington D.C. Archbishop Wilton Gregory, who would become the first Black U.S. prelate to earn the coveted red hat. In a surprise announcement from his studio window Sunday to the faithful below in St. Peter’s Square, Francis said the churchmen would be elevated to a cardinal’s rank in a ceremony on Nov. 28.
