EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - After a series of crashes over the summer, people in El Cajon are calling on the city to add some safety measures to the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Renette Avenue."It's very dangerous," says Julia Reyes, who lives near the intersection. "We have a lot of families and kids crossing through here. We have two schools near here too.""It's a regular race track," says David Pina, who also lives on the corner. He recently replaced the fence in his yard because a suspected drunk driver plowed into it over Memorial Day weekend."We were all in the house and heard a big bang in the street and all of the sudden, boom, right in the yard," he says.The intersection has stop signs for cars headed East and West. There are also cones and left-turn restrictions in the middle of the intersection. Pina says that only makes it worse."That sign ends up in the street all the time," he says of the "No Left Turn" sign in the middle of the road. He adds that people ignore the cones and drive straight through the intersection illegally.Neighbors have asked the city to install traffic-calming measures. They think a stop sign, speed humps, flashing lights or a sturdier barrier could be a solution.10News reached out to the City of El Cajon to see if there have been any discussions about adding safety measures to the intersection. A spokesperson from the Department of Public Works asked us to submit a formal public records request. Because of the holiday weekend for Labor Day, the city has not had a chance to reply to that submission.For Pina, he hopes something can be done soon. He worries that the next crash may cost him more than just a fence."My grandson sleeps in that front room," he says. "You gotta worry about the kids. I if somebody did come through that fence and come into the house, there's no chance for anybody. (KGTV) -- El Cajon police are investigating another case of someone egging a car in the Granite Hills neighborhood. Shelby Howell says her car was egged early Monday morning. "This is the worst that it's happened," Howell said. During her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Judge Amy Coney Barrett declined to give her legal opinion as to whether a President could pardon himself for crimes he may have committed while in office.Barrett's deferral came during a line of questioning by Senate Judiciary Committee member Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont. Leahy first asked Barrett if she believed that "nobody is above the law," including the President. Barrett agreed.Leahy then asked if she believed a President would be able to pardon himself, given that President Donald Trump has said he believes he has the right to do so in the past."Because it would be opining on an open question when I haven't gone through the judicial process to decide it, it's not one in which I can offer a view," Barrett said.Throughout his questioning, Barrett has attempted to avoid sharing her personal or judicial views on hotly-debated political topics, citing past precedent of previous Supreme Court justice nominees.It is true that the question of a President pardoning himself has not been challenged in court. But in 1974, at the height of the Watergate scandal, the Justice Department faced the possibility that President Richard Nixon would do just that. On Aug. 5, assistant attorney general Mary Lawton issued a memorandum opinion that "no one may be a judge in his own case" and that "the President cannot pardon himself."Despite Lawton's opinion, some legal experts believe that a President may still be able to issue their own pardon. Disney has narrowed down the opening dates for their Stars Wars expansions that are being built at both Disneyland and Disney World.The company announced on their Disney Parks blog that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will open at Disneyland in summer of 2019. The expansion will open at Disney World in late fall 2019.The exact dates for the opening of both parks will be announced at a later date. They come just a few months before the yet to be named Star Wars Episode 9 is due in theaters on December 20, 2019.At Disneyland the massive expansion is being built north of Frontierland. At Disney World is being built at Disney's Hollywood Studios.The Disney World expansion is also being accompanied by a Star Wars themed hotel.
