BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China will take steps to implement the three-year action plan on reforming the country's state-owned enterprises (SOEs), according to a conference here on Sunday.

Leaders, first ladies and senior government officials of the countries have sent messages one after another to the Chinese side, speaking highly of and expressed thanks for the Chinese aid.

The meeting required summarizing containment experience and making a science-based assessment of COVID-19 developments. Contingency plans on local clusters of cases shall be refined. Reserves of material supplies shall be enhanced. The meeting also urged appropriately mobilizing resources for epidemiological investigation, testing and medical treatment. Relevant information shall be released in a fact-based and transparent manner. Meanwhile, flu and other diseases shall also be prevented.

"Market forces cannot be suppressed by the actions of a few politicians," the spokesperson said.

He said the mainland is Hong Kong's biggest partner in almost every aspect, but last year's social unrest had vastly reduced the number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong. The epidemic has only made matters worse, by almost severing regular personnel exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland.
