DALLAS (AP) — A Texas prosecutor said Friday that investigators have linked more than 60 killings in at least 14 states to a 79-year-old California inmate who may be the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history.Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland said Samuel Little continues to cooperate with investigators from around the country who interrogate him in prison about cold case killings dating back to the 1970s. Among those who spoke to him were investigators from Ohio, where Little grew up and where he's suspected of killing at least five women.Little was convicted of killing three Los Angeles-area women and pleaded guilty to killing a Texas woman, and he's serving life sentences in California. Little, who lived a nomadic lifestyle, claims to have killed 93 women as he crisscrossed the country over the years.Bland said Little is in failing health and has exhausted his appeals, leading him to be forthcoming with investigators."At this point in his life I think he's determined to make sure that his victims are found," he said.During Little's 2014 trial in Los Angeles, prosecutors said he was likely responsible for at least 40 killings since 1980. Authorities at the time were looking for possible links to deaths in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and Texas.But Little was not forthcoming with information at the time and Bland credits Texas Ranger James Holland with gaining Little's trust and eventually eliciting a series of confessions.Holland traveled to California last year to speak with Little about cold cases in Texas. That led Little to be extradited to Texas and his guilty plea in December in the 1994 strangulation death of Denise Christie Brothers in the West Texas city of Odessa. But Holland's conversations with Little have continued, even after Little was returned to California to serve his sentences, and it was Holland who determined that he was responsible for 93 deaths, said Bland, who received an update from Holland this week.Information provided to Holland was relayed to law enforcement agencies in several states, leading to a revolving door of investigators who traveled to California to corroborate decades-old deaths.Among them were investigators from Ohio, where prosecutors on Friday announced charges against Little in the 1981 killing of a Cincinnati woman and where he was charged last week in the deaths of two women in Cleveland. He previously was charged in a second Cincinnati killing and confessed to another one in Cleveland, though investigators are still trying to identify the victim in that case.He explained that Little's victims often were suffocated or strangled, in many cases leaving few physical marks and leading investigators to determine the women died of overdoses or of natural causes."There's still been no false information given," Bland said. Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris said Thursday that she would suspend in-person campaigning until Oct. 19 after she encountered two people who have contracted COVID-19.According to a statement from Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon, a "non-staff flight crew member" and Harris' communications director, Liz Allen, both tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.The Biden campaign said that during its contact tracing, a member of the company that charters Joe Biden's airplane tested positive for the coronavirus. The Biden campaign said that the crew member was at least 50 feet away from Biden at all times, and Biden wears an N95 mask during flights. The Biden campaign does not plan on altering his schedule.According to the campaign, Harris was "not in close contact, as defined by the CDC," with either person. (KGTV) - The California Thoroughbred Racing Board postponed a vote on the use of riding crops at their meeting Thursday.The board was scheduled to vote on the issue but decided to move it to the December meeting.Two different versions of the regulation have been proposed.One would allow jockeys to hold a crop during race, but would disqualify the horse if the jockey used the crop to whip the horse during a race.The second version broadens the acceptable use of the crop to include “tapping of the neck” and for use in directing the horse without contact, but would still not permit a jockey to raise the crop to forcefully whip a horse.Del Mar Thoroughbred Club CEO, Joe Harper, said he supports the phaseout of whips.“I’m hopeful we can get to a point where the whip is not used at all,” said Harper. “It’s a horrible visual.” 855

DENVER, Colo. — On Wednesday, a Boulder man released videos of his July 29 arrest, and said he's ready to take action against the Denver Police Department for "savagely" beating him. He also claims an officer sexually assaulted him with a baton.Michael Jacobs, a self-described student activist, was arrested on July 29 during a "Stop the Sweep" homeless protest at Lincoln Park, across from the Colorado State Capitol.He says he was rattling a fence at Lincoln Park to get an officer's attention and says he was taken down by officers."I was grabbed from behind, it felt like it was from my neck, no warning, no 'you're under arrest,'" Jacobs said.It's important to stress that little is known about what led up to the takedown. Video shows people shaking a fence at the park and then the takedown.In the video, you see an officer run towards Jacobs and then several officers holding him down. You can briefly see an officer use his baton against Jacobs in the recording."One of the officers took his baton, lifted it in the air and forcefully shoved it into my a**," Jacobs said.A probable cause statement released by the Denver Police Department claims Jacobs was part of a group trying to push down a gate at Lincoln Park and adds that they managed to bring it down and get inside.But in the video, Jacobs is outside of the fence.The police report states Jacobs violently resisted arrest and even grabbed an officer's pepper ball gun. It's a claim Jacobs and his attorney, Dr. Matt Greife, dispute."That could not be further from the truth," Jacobs said."To say that he attempted to disarm a police officer of their pepper gun or pepper ball gun, that's nonsense, he was on the ground way too fast," Dr. Greife said.According to Dr. Greife, it's been challenging to obtain vital evidence they should be granted to prepare for a lawsuit and a civil claim they plan to file."We should know what the police reports say. We should know what the body cams tell us," Dr. Greife said.Denver police say they launched an internal investigation and added that it would be inappropriate to comment further.Medical records provided by Jacobs' attorney to KMGH show a doctor couldn't conclusively identify sexual abuse from the incident.Jacobs is facing a felony charge of attempting to disarm a police officer. (KGTV) -- High winds in the Descanso area knocked over two big rig trucks early Thursday morning, prompting emergency crews to rescue people trapped inside.At around 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to eastbound Interstate 8 near Japatul Valley Road after reports a semitruck toppled over due to the strong winds swirling in the area.Two people were removed from the truck and taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.Moments later and a few hundred feet away, crews rushed to another big rig that was knocked down by the winds.Crews broke the truck’s windshield and extricated a man, woman and dog trapped inside the cab. It is unknown if the couple and dog were injured.A High Wind Advisory was issued for I-8 from Lake Jennings to Forrester Road; high-profile vehicles are prohibited on that stretch of I-8. 872
