ANAHEIM (CNS) - Thousands of Disneyland enthusiasts lined up early Friday to experience the theme park's newest Star Wars Land ride.Bobby Navarro of Garden Grove said he got up at 4 a.m. with his friends and got into the park by 5:30 a.m.Navarro experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance when it debuted at Disney World on Dec. 5, so he had some practice in using the company's application to sign up for a pass to the attraction. "And then, it was whoever is able to push the button fastest."Navarro and his group were assigned to boarding group 84, and he was advised the park may only be able to handle 82 boarding groups on Friday, but he was hopeful his group will get a chance to see the Anaheim version of the ride."The first day in Florida, they got up to boarding group 125," Navarro said."We're close to group 50 now," he said about 1 p.m.Navarro said even the wait in line for the ride in Florida helped guests feel immersed in the experience. Shane Carringer said the city has not experienced any issues with traffic in the area despite also hosting the National Association of Music Merchants convention."I haven't heard of any problems," he said. "These large events, although extraordinary for Anaheim, are definitely not out of our comfort zone to handle these pretty regularly. Well now, you can — at least what's been constructed in Anaheim thus far.Disneyland's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion is slated to open next year and drone footage captured by the park shows the land taking shape.Steel frames of the galactic planet of Batuu have started to tower over the park. An Idaho couple is now facing more charges in connection with the disappearance and deaths of two children.Chad Daybell now faces four felony charges for evidence destruction or concealment. Lori Vallow Daybell is facing two counts of conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, according to the iCourt Portal, in addition to other charges.The new charges come after Rexburg police served a search warrant at Chad Daybell’s Salem, Idaho home on Monday. Officers went into the house, exterior buildings, and were seen in the backyard with cameras. They left with brown evidence bags but it is not known if the search is tied to the new charges of conspiracy. Read the court documents here.Vallow Daybell has been in the Madison County Jail since March on two counts of felony desertion and nonsupport of children along with three misdemeanors. She’s been in the Madison County Jail on million bail.Idaho officials discovered the remains of 7-year-old JJ Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan. buried in Daybell's backyard on June 9. The two are Vallow Daybell's children. JJ and Tylee were reported missing in late 2019. Their remains were found in Rexburg, Idaho, in June on property owned by Daybell, their stepfather. The children's mother, Lori Daybell (née Vallow), was arrested in connection with their disappearance earlier this year.According to the probable cause affidavit for Daybell's arrest, the remains of one child was found wrapped in plastic and sealed with duct tape. An online movement is raising awareness about the discrimination some high school students face at private and prep schools.One of many social media pages highlighting the issue is Black at Lovett. The organizers are two alumni who have taken submissions from students, parents and faculty, and share their experiences at the The Lovett School anonymously. Some of the stories go back decades.“I guess one of the things that was kind of surprising, but also we all knew what was going on, was that we all shared a lot of the same stories and a lot of the same experiences with the same students, the same administrators, the same teachers,” said Allison Burns, co-creator of Black at Lovett.The alumni have worked together using experiences from their current jobs to offer policy recommendations to Atlanta school and the community.“We want to make this better for future black students who attend this school, and that's the driving force behind this and why we want this to be an effort of love, a labor of love in some ways,” said Ashley Jeffrey, co-creator of Black at Lovett.Another page, True Colors of Columbia, highlights stories from Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York. The co-creators just graduated and echo what they say needs to be done to help the next generation at these institutions.“How many more discussions with the administration, petitions, and emails and meetings do we need to have until kids aren't being told that they're going to be lynched?” asked Lauren Gloster, co-creator of True Colors of Columbia.While grateful for the education, the girls say they've felt the need to step in to help peers better understand racial differences.
