LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The U.S. Justice Department in Los Angeles announced today that it has obtained an additional .4 million for servicemembers whose vehicles were repossessed by Wells Fargo Bank in violation of federal law.Wells Fargo reached a million settlement with federal prosecutors last year over allegations it illegally repossessed more than 400 cars owned by members of the military without a court order.The settlement resolves alleged violations of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, which protects service members against certain civil proceedings that could affect their legal rights while they are in the service.The additional amount brings the total compensation under the settlement to more than .1 million and the total number of servicemembers eligible for relief to more than 860."The SCRA provides important protections and is intended to prevent unnecessary financial hardship for the brave women and men who serve in our armed forces," said acting U.S. Attorney Sandra R. Brown."Losing an automobile through an unlawful repossession while serving our country is a problem servicemembers should not have to confront. We are pleased that Wells Fargo is taking action to compensate these additional servicemembers as required under the settlement with the Justice Department."The settlement covers repossessions that occurred between Jan. 1, 2008, and July 1, 2015. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 810

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A China Airlines flight crew spotted what appeared to be a person flying a jet pack 6,000 feet above the ground near LAX Wednesday, less than two months after two separate airline crews reported seeing a jet pack in the Cudahy and South Gate areas.China Airlines flight 006 was approaching LAX about 1:45 p.m. when the crew "reported seeing what appeared to be someone in a jet pack at an approximate altitude of 6,000 feet, about seven miles northwest of Los Angeles International Airport," the Federal Aviation Administration said.The FAA is also investigating an Aug. 30 sighting of what appeared to be a person in a jet pack about 3,000 feet above the ground in the Cudahy and South Gate areas, but investigators have not been able to verify those reports, the FAA's Ian Gregor said Wednesday.RELATED: FBI releases map of Sunday's 'guy in a jet pack' in Los AngelesAt the time of the August sightings, the pilot of American Airlines flight 1997 radioed the LAX tower to make the unusual report of somebody apparently flying at about 3,000 feet with a jet pack. More specifically, it appears the plane was in the area west of the 710, east of San Juan Avenue, north of Firestone Boulevard and south of Cudahy Park."Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jet pack," the pilot said on the August radio transmission. An air-traffic controller -- noticeably taken aback by the report -- responded, "American 1997, OK, thank you for the update.
