NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The second and final debate of the U.S. presidential election will be held at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, starting at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 22.Originally, the Commission on Presidential Debates scheduled three forums between the candidates. The second debate, which would have been held town hall style, was canceled after President Donald Trump declined to participate when the commission announced the debate would be held virtually due to Trump's recent coronavirus infection.Who’s participating?The debate will be moderated by Kristen Welker, a White House correspondent for NBC News and co-anchor of “Weekend TODAY.” It will be Welker's first general election debate she has moderated, but she co-moderated the fifth Democratic debate during the 2020 primary season.President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden plan on participating in the debate. No other candidates, like Libertarian Jo Jorgensen, qualified to take part in the debate, based on the Commission on Presidential Debates’ candidate selection criteria.What will be discussed?The debate commission allows each moderator to decide which topics are discussed. Last Friday, Welker announced that the following topics would be addressed Thursday night: fighting COVID-19, American families, race in America, climate change, national security, and leadership.Earlier this week, Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, claimed the CPD had “promised” that Thursday’s debate would be about foreign policy and asked for Welker’s topics to be discarded. However, CPD responded and said “no debate in 2020 was ever designated by (the commission) as devoted to foreign or domestic policy."With that said, the president is expected to still grill Biden on his son Hunter’s business ties, as well as his foreign policy record in the Obama administration and as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, The Washington Post reports.How will the debate be structured?After the first debate went off the rails, because the candidates constantly spoke over each other, the CPD announced changes Monday to “ensure a more orderly discussion.”As with the first debate, both campaigns have agreed to allow each candidate two minutes of uninterrupted time to make remarks at the beginning of each 15-minute segment of the debate. This time, however, “the only candidate whose microphone will be open during these two-minute periods is the candidate who has the floor under the rules,” the CPD said in a statement. Both mics will then be turned back on for an open discussion.What is being done to protect against coronavirus?The commission says Trump and Biden will again skip the traditional handshake before the debate starts and the audience will be required to wear masks.How can you watch?The debate will run for 90 minutes without commercial interruption. MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A Milwaukee mother is livid that her 5-year-old son with autism was able to walk away from school. He was gone for about an hour and no one even knew he was missing until a stranger picked him up in a car."I can't believe my baby was out of the street and nobody had any idea that he was even missing," said the boy's mom Crystal Borzick.Her son, Blake Greenley, made it to the middle of busy Mill Road near 87th when a stranger spotted him trying to cross."His face was red," said Karen Stacy. "He was very cold. He was crying."Stacy said several cars slammed on their brakes when the boy darted across Mill Road to the median around 11 o'clock Thursday morning. She stopped and got out to try to find out what was wrong.Greenley has autism and does not usually speak to strangers. Stacy finally got him in her car and called the police. She was shocked to find no one reported him missing so she posted his picture on Facebook while she waited for officers.A friend of Borzick shared it with her on Facebook."That's the picture I got sent," said Crystal Borzick. "And as a mom, that made my stomach sink."She frantically called his school, Bruce Elementary."Nobody even has an idea that my son is missing from the school," said Borzick.Officers brought him back. When Crystal saw him she said she broke down."I cried," said Borzick. "I cried. I hugged him like I have never hugged him before. It was a relief sigh of relief, but it's also like I can't believe my baby was out of the street."She said she was told by the school her son might have left after lunch and that his regular teacher was out and a substitute was teaching.Milwaukee Public Schools gave a statement on the matter."We are grateful Blake was quickly found by a concerned community member and that he is safe. We are investigating this incident and, therefore, cannot comment further," said Andy Nelson, media manager for Milwaukee Public Schools."I have never been so scared in my life to know that anything could have happened to my child and nobody would have even known," said Borzick.She said Blake will not go to school tomorrow and she is not sure when he will return. 2198

Multiple cell phones, scopes, two rifles and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were found by police during a search of Travis Reinking's Antioch apartment. In an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, detectives searched Reinking's Discovery at Mountain View apartment and took a number of items. The two rifles were a CZ 452-2EZKM .22 caliber and a Remington 30-06.Police found hundreds of .22 caliber rifle bullets, 87 30-06 bullets, 30 .223 bullets, 29 .45 bullets and 43 .22 caliber bullets.They also found four cell phones, two scopes, a notebook, a safe and several computers. The affidavit describes Reinking's apartment as a one-bedroom apartment. Police said he has been living there for three months. Inside of Reinking's truck that was left at the Waffle House, police found two checks made out to "Travis J. Rankins [sic]." Also, police found an iPod and a Buck Knife with a black sheath.Assorted documents and papers were found in both the apartment and the truck, though what information they contain was not specified. More than 30 states are reporting increases in opioid related overdoses and those from other drugs during the pandemic, particularly involving fentanyl, according to the American Medical Association.The government has taken steps to curb deaths during the pandemic by allowing for more flexibility in prescribing medications for opioid use disorder and lifting other restrictions on pain medications.Meanwhile, the National Safety Council is calling on businesses to get ready for an increase in substance misuse in the workplace.“Employers not only have a responsibility, they have a call to arms here to make sure as they bring employees back to work, that they are directly addressing their mental health and providing them the resources that they need to be able to navigate,” said Lorraine Martin, President of the National Safety Council. “It’s just as important as the PPE and sanitization for hygiene that we will all need to have when we come back to work.”Martin recognizes mental health and substance misuse are often interconnected.Now, with the additional stress and unrest related to George Floyd’s death on top of COVID-19, people may be self-medicating even more.The National Safety Council put out resources and tools to help businesses help struggling employees, but they believe the most important thing leaders can do is talk about it.“The most mature companies are addressing this head on,” said Martin. “We know that substance misuse is a disease, not a decision, and if you can come at it with that attitude and make sure you create that safe space for your employees, that can make all the difference.”Not addressing substance misuse is a serious threat to worker safety and costs a lot of money in terms of productivity, absenteeism and workers compensation claims.On the other hand, employees that work through these issues with their employer often come out on the other side more loyal and productive. 1937

NASCAR has banned the Confederate flag from all events and properties. NASCAR says the Confederate flag “runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry.” Former chairman Brian France in 2015 tried to ban the flying of Confederate flags at race tracks, a proposal too broad to enforce and one that angered NASCAR’s core Southern-based fan base.“The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special," NASCAR said in a statement. "The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”NASCAR's announcement comes during a period of national unrest over race relations in the United States.
