The number of empty apartments available to rent in Manhattan soared to its highest level in recent history this summer. There are more than 13,000 apartments on the market in the heart of New York City, according to a real estate report from Douglas Elliman and Miller Samuel. The group says this is the most inventory they have seen in Manhattan in 14 years of keeping track.July’s spike of 13,117 available units is an increase over June’s inventory of 10,789.For context, July 2020’s inventory is nearly 122 percent higher than last year; in July 2019 there were roughly 5,900 available apartments. The group also says July had the biggest year-over-year drop in median rent price in nearly nine years. The median rental price for an apartment in Manhattan, including anything from a studio to a 3-bedroom, was ,320 in July, and was ,595 in July 2019.The report also tracks the Queens and Brooklyn rental market. Both saw huge spikes in inventory, but none as large as Manhattan.Moving help website HireaHelper.com released results of a recent study on 2020 moving trends.Their study also found high-rent cities like San Francisco and New York saw more people leaving than moving in; both cities had 80 percent more people moving out of the area than moving in. The porn star known as Stormy Daniels threatened to call off a nondisclosure agreement with President Donald Trump's lawyer weeks before the election, The Washington Post reports, citing an email from Daniels' lawyer obtained by the newspaper.Trump's personal legal counsel, Michael Cohen, agreed to pay the woman, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, reportedly in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair she had with Trump several years prior. But according to the Post, an email from Clifford's lawyer, Keith Davidson, on October 17, 2016, shows Clifford's lawyer threatening to end the nondisclosure deal. At that point, the payment had not arrived, the newspaper said.Shortly after, a second email to Cohen from Davidson obtained by the newspaper said: "Please be advised that my client deems her settlement agreement canceled and void."Ten days after those emails, another email shows Daniels received a 0,000 payment, according to the Post.Cohen admitted last month to making the payment, saying in a statement that the exchange was a "lawful" "private transaction" in which he used his "own personal funds," and "was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.""Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly," Cohen said.Cohen reportedly set up a private LLC shortly before the 2016 presidential election to pay Clifford, following an alleged July 2006 sexual encounter with Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported in January. After the initial reports of the payment, Cohen said in a statement that Trump "vehemently denies" any encounter between the two."Just because something isn't true doesn't mean that it can't cause you harm or damage," Cohen's latter statement said. "I will always protect Mr. Trump."Clifford's manager also said last month that Clifford now believes Cohen voided the non-disclosure by admitting to the payment."Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story," said Gina Rodriguez, Clifford's manager.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. The list of recalled hand sanitizers is growing. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has named dozens that contain methanol, which can cause blindness or hospitalizations if absorbed through skin.A consumer watchdog tells us these products are not FDA approved. That's because in March, the agency allowed companies that never made hand sanitizer to make it in order to meet demand. They just had to agree to follow the rules.“So, guess what happened? Some of them didn't follow the rules, either intentionally or unintentionally, and so then, they started getting reports from the poison control centers of people getting sick from methanol in hand sanitizer instead of ethanol,” said Teresa Murray with U.S. PIRG.Murray says many of the recalled products have been made in Mexico. But as part of the temporary guidelines, companies don't have to disclose where the sanitizers were manufactured. So, it's hard for consumers to tell which products might be dangerous.Murray says if you can't tell where the product was made, don't buy it and don't use it if it's already in your home. To be safe, stick with brand names you recognize for now.Murray has found most stores and online retailers have pulled products on the FDA list, but you should still be careful depending on where you shop.“I would caution anyone from buying anything that's on an end-cap clearance aisle, or anything that's from a super discount store,” said Murray. “There may be a reason why one of the mainstream retailers is no longer selling it.”Murray says it's always important to keep hand sanitizers out of reach for kids and pets, but now, even more so.If ingested, methanol can cause even more health problems.Click here to learn more from the FDA. 1738

Fields was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Heather Heyer, eight counts of malicious wounding and one count of failing to stop at an accident involving a death. Fields faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The commonwealth argued that Fields intended to harm the counterprotesters. The defense says he was in a state of panic and acted in self-defense.The panel of seven women and five men, which includes one black man and 11 white people, was sent home Thursday night after attorneys made their cases. The jury began deliberations Friday morning, and concluded in the afternoon.  689

The House Intelligence Committee voted along party lines Thursday to release the Republican report on Russian meddling, after it goes through the declassification process. The top Democrat on the committee, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, said his party members on the committee sought to hold the hearing in open session, issue a number of subpoenas and hold former White House adviser Steve Bannon in contempt. He said Republicans rejected all of it. Democratic Rep. Mike Quigley of Illinois that reiterated Schiff and said Democrats made more than a dozen motions.Schiff effectively declared the bipartisan investigation over but said the Democratic probe would continue.Rep. Eric Swalwell of California called the report an incomplete assessment. In a sign of how tense the meeting was, Quigley said he clucked like a chicken at one point to underscore how he thought Republicans "lacked courage" and "ducked one of the most important times in American history."  978
