LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wilford Brimley, who worked his way up from stunt performer to star of films such as “Cocoon” and “The Natural,” has died. He was 85. Brimley’s manager says the actor died Saturday morning in a Utah hospital. She says he was on dialysis and had several medical ailments. The mustached Brimley was a familiar face for a number of roles, often playing gruff characters like his grizzled baseball manager in “The Natural.” Brimley’s best-known work was in “Cocoon,” in which he was part of a group of seniors who discover an alien pod that rejuvenates them. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was suspended following allegations that he had sex on the Universal Studios lot and the encounter was captured by the deputy's open microphone.It was unclear when the incident occurred."The deputy was immediately relieved of duty and an administrative investigation has been opened," according to a statement released by the department. "The deputy's peace officer's powers have been suspended and the proper administrative action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation."Audio of the incident was posted on TMZ's website on Tuesday.
