(KGTV) - An Imperial Beach man said he was sucker punched during a peaceful protest in Imperial Beach on Sunday.Marcus Boyd was one of the people at the rally, which started at Veteran's Park. The attack happened when the group got to the beach, Boyd said."We were shouted at by three or four individuals, telling us to go home," Boyd said. "They decided to start throwing eggs at us. I crossed the street just to get a good image of the perpetrators."That's when Boyd said he was hit from behind. He still has a sore neck and headache. He said emotionally, it has been hard to watch the video. "He really tried to hurt me," Boyd said. Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina tweeted that he's called on the San Diego Sheriff's Department to "investigate the violent assault on peaceful protestors" that occurred at the Imperial Beach Pier Plaza on Sunday afternoon. Mayor Pro Tem Paloma Aguirre added that she does not want residents to feel unsafe "for exercising their First Amendment rights."According to a Sheriff's spokesman, the incident occurred at about 3 p.m. on Sunday. The protester reported that he had been punched by another man after a verbal confrontation. The suspect ran away with two men, but deputies later made contact with the two individuals, SDSO added.SDSO said the suspect was eventually contacted, but could not be identified by the victim or other witnesses. HOUSTON — An Associated Press review of medical records for four detained immigrant women and interviews with lawyers have revealed growing allegations that a gynecologist performed surgeries and other procedures that the women never sought or didn't fully understand.Dr. Mahendra Amin was linked this week to allegations of unwanted hysterectomies performed on immigrant women at Irwin County Detention Center in Georgia.Some procedures could be justified based on problems noted in the medical records, but lawyers and medical experts say the women's lack of consent or knowledge raises severe legal and ethical issues.Amin provided gynecological treatment or performed surgery on eight women dating back to 2017, including one hysterectomy, according to an attorney an immigration and civil rights lawyer working with attorneys to investigate medical treatment at the detention center.The AP's report comes days after a nurse's complaint at the detention center was widely published. Dawn Wooten claimed that many immigrant women were taken to an unidentified doctor she called the "uterus collector" because of how many hysterectomies he performed.In an interview with The Intercept, Amin said he performed "one or two hysterectomies in the past three years." HIs lawyer told the AP that Amin was looking forward to the "facts coming out," and claimed that he would be cleared of wrongdoing.The AP did not find evidence of the "mass hysterectomies" that Wooten alleged. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A person broke into an Imperial Beach woman’s home and touched her while she slept, Sheriff’s Department officials said Tuesday. Deputies responded to the sexual battery report in the 1300 block of Hemlock Avenue about 5 a.m. Tuesday. The woman woke up to find the stranger touching her. The person left and she contacted the Sheriff’s Department, officials said. Investigators believe the person broke in through an open bedroom window by removing the screen.
