SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A team led by Scripps Research has yielded positive results in a new research study involving antibodies.Researchers say they've worked to isolate the most potent antibodies in the blood of recovered COVID-19 patients. The study was published in "Science."Dennis Burton, the study's co-author, says once they identified the most potent antibodies, they cloned them."You clone the really good ones, and then you make lots and lots of them in production facilities and then use as a standard to protect and-or treat Covid-19," Burton said.They've tested the cloned antibodies, or monoclonal antibodies, on animals, and they've yielded positive results. They hope to conduct human testing early next year.When asked if it is similar to antibody treatments from convalescent plasma donations, Burton says what they're making is more efficient and can be produced for masses.He says the monoclonal antibodies could be used as a preventive measure given to uninfected but at-risk people before a vaccine is available, and could even be useful for people that may not respond well to a vaccine.He also says the monoclonal antibodies could be used to design better vaccines by giving researchers a better idea of which antibodies are most effective. 1268

Whetstone discovered a flat tire on her Jeep Wranger near her home on Felspar Street just after noon. Replacing the slashed tire will cost her more 0.Police actually contacted her and her husband on the phone to let them know about the slashing, because officers were already in the area. According to Whetstone, police told her the same vandal had just slashed the tires of six vehicles in a Bank of America parking lot.It all happened in broad daylight, off busy streets. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Activists with 'March Without Borders' are ready to welcome migrants from Central America heading to the United States with the migrant caravan.The supporters began an eight-day march from Los Angeles on April 22 and plan to meet the migrants at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Sunday.On Saturday they marched throughout San Diego, beginning from Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park and ending in Chicano Park. Migrants are expected to ask for asylum at the San Ysidro Port of Entry sometime Sunday morning. 546

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A water line break forced Hard Rock Hotel guests out of their rooms Sunday night.San Diego Fire officials said that about 2 inches of water from the 7th floor leaked down to the 5th and 6th floors beginning around 10 p.m. at the hotel on 5th Avenue. The water was shut off shortly after 11 p.m.Some guests had to leave their rooms because of the flooding.
