BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhuanet) -- A new study suggested that regular use of painkiller ibuprofen may cut the risk of developing Parkinson's disease, according to Reuters reports. The research findings were published in the online edition of the journal Neurology on Wednesday and later will appear in the print edition on March 8.The study, which followed more than 136,000 U.S. men and women for six years, showed that people who took ibuprofen at least twice a week were 38 percent less likely to develop Parkinson's, a brain disorder that causes tremors and movement problems, compared to those who didn't take the pain reliever so often.Ibuprofen is sold in the U.S. as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). But the study didn't prove that other NSAIDS, like aspirin or naproxen, could also cut the Parkinson's risk."Our study suggests ibuprofen could be a potential neuroprotective agent against Parkinson's," says lead researcher Dr. Xiang Gao from Harvard Medical School, "Protective effects are seen after taking ibuprofen two or more times a week. That's so-called regular use."However, he also warned that no proof has been found that ibuprofen itself can help ward off Parkinson's, and said that it's too early to recommend people to start taking ibuprofen to protect against the disorder.Gao said, "We just see an association, not some causal relationship."Besides, regular ibuprofen use has risks, like stomach bleeding and kidney damage.

A paved road now allows buses to reach the village, Zhao added.Wen said, "Only when the people living in old revolutionary bases live better lives can we feel relieved."At farmer Zhao Kongying's home, Wen joined the family in making "yuanzi," a glutinous rice ball traditionally eaten during the Spring Festival.Wen later went to Hetang Village. There he visited villager Yu Shuhua's home and urged the local government to provide more help to needy people to ensure they have a happy lunar new year.At dinner time, he went to villager Zhang Jiasheng's home, joining the family to prepare dinner. SAN FRANCISCO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Google on Tuesday released a new stable version of its Chrome web browser, which the company said is speedier, simpler and safer."With today's stable release, even your most complex web apps will run more quickly and responsively in the browser," Tim Steele, a Google software engineer, said in a blog post announcing the release. The new version of Chrome features a simpler settings page that opens in a tab rather than a dialog box, and contains a search box showing users the settings they are looking for while they type.Users can also synchronize passwords in the browser across their computers, and will be able to encrypt those passwords for extra security.Google said that the latest Chrome browser provides additional layer of protection against malicious web pages, with the extended application of sandboxing technology. The browser can be downloaded for free, and current Chrome users will be automatically updated to the new version soon, Google said.

CANBERRA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The Australian federal government could struggle to get its carbon tax through parliament, as key independent Member of Parliament (MP) Tony Windsor on Thursday warned the plan may never become a reality.Windsor, who is one of the independents Prime Minister Julia Gillard will rely on to get her carbon tax pass the Parliament, said while climate action will benefit the bush, he will not "vote for something that does nothing"."There is no carbon tax, there may not be a carbon tax," he told ABC News on Thursday morning."The prime minister doesn't have the numbers, as I understand it at the moment."I have a vote, others do as well, so you can never guarantee something before it gets through a minority parliament."Windsor said people in his rural New South Wales electorate were concerned about the lack of detail around the proposed carbon tax.Gillard played down his comments, saying that Windsor, who sits on the multi-party climate change committee, had been "perfectly consistent" in his approach to the carbon price debate."He does believe climate change is real ... that pricing carbon is the best way, an important way, of tackling climate change," Gillard told ABC Radio on Thursday."(But) he's going to look at the (legislative) package and wait to the end and then judge (it)."Gillard added that the Labor government remains determined to introduce a carbon tax from mid-2012 followed by an emissions trading scheme.
