SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A South Bay high school was placed on lockdown while police searched a vehicle outside the campus.San Diego Police placed Southwest High School under lockdown while officers searched a vehicle they stopped on Hollister Street, just outside campus.Police said the traffic stop was a result of someone reporting they saw a gun. The suspected vehicle was located and pulled over.Southwest High was placed on lockdown as a precaution and police said the campus wasn't being threatened - the traffic stop just happened to occur outside the school property.Police found a BB gun inside the vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was injured.The lockdown was later lifted.Police said they encourage anyone who thinks they see a weapon to report it to authorities. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An unfounded "security threat" prompted Naval Base San Diego to initiate a lockdown Thursday afternoon, authorities said.The lockdown went into effect just before 11:30 a.m. over a reported "security threat," according to a Naval Base San Diego public information officer. According to San Diego Harbor Police, the threat was unfounded.Base officials lifted the lockdown and resumed normal operations just before 12 p.m., but didn't comment on the lockdown. 484

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After months without any organized sports or youth activities, the San Diego Junior Lifeguard program resumed Monday under strict guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.For Addison Watson, it was a day she thought would never come. On Monday, she joined hundreds of other kids to take part in the San Diego Junior Lifeguard program.“I’ve been sitting in my room on a desk with my computer, staring at a screen. This is nice to be outside,” Addison said.When the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down, there was a concern there wouldn’t be a program this summer.However, organizers pressed on and prepared just in case. Once the green light was given by San Diego County health officials, they had everything up and running.The program opened up with health measures in place, including having families do health screenings at home. Additionally, each participant and the entire staff will have to go through another health and temperature screening on site each day.Participants and staff are also required to wear masks and will have to follow social distancing guidelines. To help with distancing, the program will be spread out at more locations.The participants will also be broken up into smaller groups -- unlike before, they will stay within this group to keep the interaction to fewer people.Heather Rabe, program manager for the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Program, said, “We're following an operational safety protocol plan that we've been developing and working on and adjusting as new guidelines have come out for the last two months.”10News was also told other agencies within the state and outside of California will use this similar model when it comes to their aquatic programs. 1735

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Sorrento Valley startup company has a plan to bring Coronavirus testing to your door.Mobile Xpress Clinics is offering on-site testing for businesses and their employees."I don't want my employees going to an emergency room," says founder Rolf Muller. "They have to go to an area that's safe, which can be controlled and there are not a lot of unhealthy people. And that is the key."Muller and his wife, Judy Muller-Cohn, created the mobile testing lab while looking for a way to get their own employees tested. They run a cancer diagnostic company and wanted to make sure their workers had easy access to tests.The clinic is a van, fully equipped with testing supplies, PPE, and everything needed to transport the tests back to a lab for analysis.Muller says they can set up within 15 minutes in a parking lot, and it only takes about 3 minutes per person to complete the test.Results come back within 24 hours."We can bring it to schools. We can bring it to church congregations. We can bring it to supermarkets. We can bring it to every single company where people work together," he says."If we control communities, the people who interact with each other all day long, then we can control the virus outbreak."Muller says companies should test their employees every two weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After questions from Team 10, organizers of KAABOO San Diego announced it was postponing this year's festival until 2021. Concertgoers told Team 10 they had difficulty reaching anyone for answers. “We all know this isn’t happening, there’s no festival taking place. Please just give us a refund,” said San Diego resident Vince Matthews.Matthews loves music and travels to festivals all across the country. He has been to KAABOO in Del Mar every year since it started in 2015. He spent more than 0 for early bird VIP tickets for this year’s KAABOO festival. “Last year was the first festival ever that I’ve done VIP and once I did it, I realized there was no going back to general admission!”With the pandemic and COVID cases rising, Matthews wanted to know what was going to happen with KAABOO. As more large events got canceled, he was convinced it was likely not going to take place. Still, he had yet to receive any concrete information from festival organizers.“I reached out to them usually every couple weeks by email,” Matthews said. “I get the same form email that says please be patient."Patience was running out. As of Monday early afternoon, the last update posted on KAABOO’s social media accounts was June 15th. It said, in part, that they “will need just a little more time to determine our position as it relates to this year’s installment of KAABOO.” It told fans they would be hearing from KAABOO shortly.Matthews is frustrated by the lack of communication as we now head into the month of August.“There's nobody touring, there is no festival, there is no lineup. It's not going to happen,” Matthews said.KAABOO is under new ownership. It was announced last year that Virgin Fest was taking over the brand. In addition to the new ownership, the festival was moving from the Del Mar Fairgrounds to Petco Park.As of Monday morning, it still listed the September festival dates on its website.Team 10 contacted Virgin Fest founder Jason Felts. On Twitter, he told investigator Melissa Mecija that emails went to “ticket buyers last week about a possible scaled down social distanced version for 2020.”However, he determined with cases increasing that it wasn’t “a safe decision in the end and not the multi-sensory experience that KAABOO guests experience or deserve.”Team 10 spoke to four people who bought tickets. Nobody received the email that the festival claimed to send to ticketholders.KAABOO organizers released this statement to ABC 10News: With everything in the world moving so far and fast in just the last couple of weeks, we needed a little bit of extra time to be sure we were making the right go-forward decision for our beloved festival. Unfortunately, it is not the best news... We are postponing the 2020 installment of KAABOO San Diego.After much consultation with stakeholders in local government, artists and music industry friends, and members of the San Diego community, we know it is safest and best for everyone to look ahead and plan a bigger and bolder edition of KAABOO for September of 2021.All current pass holders will receive an email in the next few days outlining a special offering for those who choose to hold their passes for KAABOO 2021.
