According to our reporting partner, Televisa, 15,000 troops will be at the U.S. border Monday morning.Earlier in June, Mexican authorities announced they were sending hundreds of troops to it's southern border to keep migrants from entering from Guatemala. All this in an effort to curb rampant migration."It's exploded without a solution," Foreign Affairs National Security Analyst Ron Bee said. "It's the Mexican response to the threat of tariffs made by President Trump. if they don't do enough to stop Central Americans from entering their country, and traveling across Mexico and entering our country."Televisa tells 10News that 500 troops will patrol from Calexico to Tijuana. There will be a ceremony Sunday in Mexico City."If they [troops] come across illegal immigrants they'll have to apprehend them and take them to a facility to hold onto them until they decide what to do," Bee said, whether that's sending them back home or allowing them to apply for asylum.Mexico already ramped up pressure on migrants, by cutting funding to overflowing migrant shelters, "shelters in Mexico have less access to resources, they are receiving hundreds and hundreds more people than before. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Father Joe’s Village and Connections Housing has been activated as rain is set to move in and cold temperatures continue throughout San Diego.The shelter, located at 1501 Imperial Avenue downtown, opens when the temperature is 50 degrees or below and there is a 40 percent chance of rain or exceptional weather conditions.The program, funded by the City of San Diego, provides food and shelter.CLICK HERE FOR TODAYS FORECASTThis is the second time so far this year that the shelter has opened. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fire crews responded after a boat caught fire in the San Diego Bay Monday afternoon. Video sent to 10News by a viewer shows smoke billowing from the vessel near the Coronado Bridge. According to Harbor Police, the distress call went out around 2 p.m. An Air Marine Operations boat on routine patrol was the first on scene. The federal marine agents used fire extinguishers to put out the fire, which was confined to the engine compartment. Fortunately, conditions were calm at the time."It's very difficult to control a boat that's burning, not only do you have to deal with the people on board, you have to make sure that you ensure their safety and then you have to deal with a floating fire," said Harbor Police Lt. Victor Banuelos. The fire was quickly put out, but three people and the two officers were taken to the hospital for the treatment of smoke inhalation. Firefighters believe an electrical short in the engine sparked the fire, but the incident is under investigation.The 36 foot cabin cruiser was towed to the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal. “I am proud of the work our Air and Marine boat crew conducted this busy Labor Day,” said Hunter Davis, Director of Air and Marine Operations in San Diego. “Their vigilance helped minimize the prospect that these events would have resulted in a tragic loss of life on the water.” 1366

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Five people were injured following a crash in Kearny Mesa involving an ambulance Thursday afternoon. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the crash happened around 2:15 near Kearny Villa Road and Balboa Avenue. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of an Infinity was speeding in a northbound lane on Kearny Villa Road when he crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting the ambulance and shoving a Hyundai to the side of the road. The driver of the infinity suffered non-life threatening injuries while his passenger suffered several broken bones and internal injuries considered life threatening. The driver and passenger of the ambulance and driver of the Hyundai all suffered non-life threatening injuries. Everyone involved in the crash was taken to the hospital, police say. Update #1 regarding Traffic alert. 5 injured with several being serious injuries. No patient was in the ambulance at the time. Detectives are now at the scene investigating.
