SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors say overnight surveillance video of a tagger in action is a glimpse of an ongoing, frustrating problem.Near Euclid Avenue and Polk Avenue, there is a church, an elementary school, and a sight Leanne Montano has seen before."Sad they're destroying someone else's property," said Montano.Video shows what unfolded just down the street. Just before 2 a.m., a motion-activated light flashes, but these vandals are undeterred. With another man and a person on a bike nearby, someone in a cap and hoodie casually begins spray painting the back wall of a home. For more than 40 seconds, he tags the wall, before he and his cohorts leave.It appears they weren't done. 10News found similar tags on fences, and garage door after garage door. A block away at Euclid Elementary, there was more graffiti. Montano's place was spared, but her home has been hit several times before. She says tagging - including the school - is a weekly occurrence."Tagging leads to other activities that aren't safe. My concern as a parent and resident is the children's safety and them walking to school, feeling safe. It allows other people to treat our neighborhood like crap. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Monday afternoon, two brothers were sentenced in connection to the deadly freeway shooting of a Navy sailor who stopped to be a good Samaritan.Edson Acuna and Brandon Acuna learned their sentences following the 2018 shooting death of Navy sailor Curtis Adams. Edson Acuna was given a term of life without the possibility of parole plus 25 years to life plus 27 years and four months. He was ordered to pay ,000 in restitution and pay for associated fines. “He's going to be in prison for the rest of his life until he takes his last breath and I think that will give him time to pay these from prison wages,” the judge told the courtroom.Edson Acuna was convicted by jury of first degree murder while Brandon Acuna pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. On Monday, Brandon Acuna was sentenced to 13 years in prison.Prosecutors argued that they burglarized a car outside of a Mount Hope home which led to a shootout with the homeowner. They tried to get away but a blown-out tire caused them to stall on the freeway. Adams stopped to help but Edson Acuna shot him after thinking that he was the homeowner from the shootout earlier in the night.Harvey Liberato and Susana Galvan were also in the brothers’ car and have entered plea agreements.The judge concluded the hearing by telling the courtroom that he hopes both men reflect in the years to come on the magnitude of the loss that their actions caused. 1441

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — North Park residents will celebrate this holiday season with an annual tradition intact — at least for one more year.For 56 years, the Toyland Parade has delighted crowds in North Park during the holiday season. But much like a parade balloon, financial troubles have loomed over organizers.Last year, the parade was briefly canceled after former-host Victoria House Corporation said it had lost support from sponsors. Then in March 2019, the community learned that a Victoria House Corporation organizer was accused of fraud and pocketing 2018 parade donations and fees after the cancellation.RELATED:North park donut shop defends homeless manSan Diego deputies share tips to protect your presents10 special holiday events coming to San DiegoNorth Park Main Street (NPMS), a volunteer-based non-profit, pledged ,000 to the parade. That donation and monetary support from the community helped 2018's parade continue as planned. NPMS has since taken the parade over, as well.But the parade is once again in trouble. Angela Landsberg, executive director with North Park Main Street, says support from the local Lions Club has saved 2019's parade, but 2020 is a different story."Our presenting sponsor North Park Lions Club have ensured that it's going to go off this year, but if we don't raise enough money this year to get us carried through our planning for next year, because these things take a long time to plan, then this will be the final year," Landsberg told 10News. The organization is asking for the community to once again step in to make sure the parade steps off on University Avenue next year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police believe a couple found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night was killed by their son. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up.When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m. Saturday, they saw the body of a person through a window of the home. After entering the house, officers found an Asian man and woman in their 50s dead with trauma to their upper bodies.RELATED: Couple found dead at home in Torrey Highlands after missing trip to San FranciscoPolice say they now believe the couple was murdered by their son, who then reportedly jumped from the Eastgate Mall overpass over I-805 on August 16 at 1:55 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Parents say they're disappointed after witnessing what they say was disrespect of the flag and national anthem at a high school basketball game. One parent captured video of the incident at Lincoln High School. They have a student at St. Augustine and say it was the second time they witnessed Lincoln High players sitting down during the anthem. The parent described the players as talking and joking around during it.A grandfather at the game, who is a Vietnam veteran, says he too was offended. He wrote a letter to Lincoln's principal and wants to sit down with him to discuss the issue. The veteran believes the players were disrespectful and says their actions were not in line with the school's mission statement.10News spoke with the school's basketball coach by phone who says he doesn't believe students meant to be disrespectful. He also respects their right to make their own decisions about their actions during the national anthem.  The San Diego Unified School District did not provide 10News comment or a statement on the matter. 1102
