SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More people have tested positive at the San Diego Convention Center, which has been serving as a shelter for San Diego's homeless since April.Regular testing has been conducted at the Convention Center since the shelter opened, but there was a rise in positive cases starting with tests administered on Dec. 3. Since then, there have been 120 positive cases detected. According to city officials, 115 are clients and five are staff members.Prior to Dec. 3, the city says there had been 27 positive cases since April.Dr. Eric McDonald, medical director of the County Health and Human Services Agency's Epidemiology and Immunization Branch, released the following statement: 699

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police have confirmed that the 19-year-old woman shot near Sunset Cliffs Thursday morning was targeted. Police told 10News they received a call at about 7:10 a.m. from a person who spotted a bleeding woman lying on a staircase next to the beach off Ladera Street, near Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.Responding officers arrived and found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds.The 19-year-old was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. Police said Thursday afternoon that the woman is in stable condition and was able to tell police she had no idea what happened.Police said they do not have any information on a suspected shooter at this time.Police told 10News they have not been able to find anyone who heard gunshots or saw what might have happened. 792

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Parks and libraries in city limits of San Diego are back open as of Saturday, Oct. 3 after more than six months of closures and caution tape.To begin, 12 city libraries first opened for in-person services, then more will gradually open. The first library locations to resume in-person services include Central, Carmel Valley, Point Loma, Mission Valley, Rancho Bernardo, Malcolm X/Valencia Park, Mira Mesa, Logan Heights, San Ysidro, La Jolla, Mission Hills-Hillcrest, and College-Rolando.The libraries will open at 25% capacity starting Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The facilities will close for cleaning from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. daily and frequently touched areas will be cleaned hourly and after each usage. Everyone will be required to wear face coverings, have their temperature taken, and practice physical distancing when possible.RELATED: Some San Diego city libraries to resume in-person servicesCity of San Diego to reopen all of its playgrounds after state guidance issuedPeople will not be able to browse for books, rather they will tell a librarian what they are looking for and the librarian will retrieve it. Computers are available at 12 locations and 10 of the locations will also have outdoor computer options.While families can continue to exercise their minds as libraries return, they can also now exercise their bodies.All 289 playgrounds in the city of San Diego are back open. There are also changes at playgrounds, including required face masks for everyone two years of age or older, advice to not use the playground when different households are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or when the capacity limit has been reached, no eating or drinking in playground, to ensure face masks are worn at all times, and advice to limit visit to 30 min per day when others are present. 1873

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person has been arrested Friday in connection with two threatening notes targeting La Jolla High School found off-campus.It's not clear whether the person was a student of the school.In a letter to parents Thursday, La Jolla High Principal Charles Podhorsky alerted the community of the notes that made mention to Oct. 31 and Dec. 10.RELATED: Point Loma Nazarene University classes canceled due to FBI investigation into possible threatPodhorsky alerted parents to the arrest Friday, and noted, "In an abundance of caution, we still plan to have additional officers on campus on these dates."It wasn't confirmed where the notes were found in the community, but students told 10News one of the notes were found at a nearby 7-Eleven location.Podhorsky also reminded parents to talk with their children regarding the notes and “If you see something, say something.”Any suspicious activity can be reported to either the Students Speak Out/Crime Stoppers hotline at 619-275-8240 or to San Diego Police at 619-531-2000. 1094
