SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three men were arrested in Tijuana for the brutal murder of three teens in Mexico, including two from San Diego. The three suspects, identified only as Fabricio, Esteban Manuel and Alejandro were arrested at an unknown time, authorities in Mexico say. 17-year-old Christopher Alexis Gomez and 18-year-old Juan Suarez Ojeda were found shot to death in Tijuana on November 25. Both teenagers attended O'Farrell Charter School in Encanto. Another teen believed to be Ojeda’s friend was also killed. RELATED: Two San Diegans, Mexican teen shot to death in TijuanaGomez’s cousin, Katheryn Garcia, said the two were likely tortured in different locations before being killed execution-style in front of a housing complex. Garcia said her cousin planned to head to a barbecue in Ensenada on Friday. Investigators believe all three teenagers were taken from an apartment complex at gunpoint before being killed. It’s still unknown why the teens may have been targeted. Gomez's family sent 10News the following statement: “As a family we are very conflicted by the events and are still hurting, we miss him dearly and just feel a bit of comfort to know that the people responsible have been caught and that our sweet Alex is getting a bit of justice.”A GoFundMe page was set up to help Gomez’s and Suarez-Ojeda’s families with funeral costs and expenses.According to reports, murders in Tijuana hit a record number in 2018, topping out at more than 2,000. 1476

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department gave 10News a behind the scenes look at the specially-trained team that solves arson cases. Inside Station One is the elite and highly specialized Metro Arson Strike Team, or MAST, made up of fire investigators, police detectives, ATF, FBI and a bomb squad. The team is dedicated solely to investigate arson. To be on the specialized team, MAST training goes beyond the fire academy. “You are wearing the hat of an electrical engineer, a scientist, a fire fighter, a report writer. We wear a lot of different hats and we have to be good at it,” said Captain James Shadoan. MAST spent the day with 10News demonstrating how they perform the task of solving an arson. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier arrived in its new home port of San Diego Monday, bringing thousands of sailors and hundreds of millions of dollars in estimated annual economic impact for the region. The Navy will relocate another carrier strike group, the USS Carl Vinson, to San Diego this summer, giving the city three carriers for the first time in a decade. Each carrier has about 3,000 sailors attached to it.RELATED: USS Abraham Lincoln returns from around-the-world deploymentThe two new carriers are expected to boost San Diego’s economy by .6 billion each year, according to a 2019 study by the San Diego Military Advisory Council. The study found that each carrier generates about 0 million in annual economic impact. The USS Roosevelt left for a seven-month deployment last week.RELATED: Thousands of sailors leave for 7-month deployment on USS RooseveltAlthough the Navy will house some of the roughly 6,000 new sailors and their families in military housing, many will be looking for places to stay in San Diego’s rental market, said real estate economist Gary London.“It will tax our housing system,” he said. “The amount of people that are coming off those carrier groups that get infused into the San Diego housing market is roughly the equivalent of the number of units that we built all of last year in San Diego County.”London estimated that San Diego’s rental market is about 95 percent occupied, and said the supply of moderately priced housing is thin.“This is a supply constrained housing market, particularly on the rental side,” he said. “Whenever you’re infusing on the demand side, more people needing housing, you are in effect bidding up the rental rates for all housing in San Diego.” “It’s going to increase the rental rates in San Diego,” he said. 1820

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The retrial began Thursday for Constantino Banda Acosta, the man prosecutors say was drunk and angry from a fight when he caused a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a 6-year-old returning from a family trip to Disneyland. The jury was deadlocked Thursday on whether or not Banda was even at the wheel. Throughout the trial, Banda sat quietly in the courtroom and could be seen smiling at the jury as attorneys laid out their case. The central question in the retrial is whether Banda or an employee of his construction company, Jorge Adame Ariza, was the one driving.RELATED: Verdict reached in trial for driver accused in hit-and-run crash that injured boyAriza was captured in security footage driving the truck from a restaurant where the two men were drinking.Ariza claims he turned the wheel over to Banda before the accident happened, which severely injured 6-year-old Lennox Lake of San Ysidro. Authorities say Banda had also been deported at least 17 times before the crash.Prosecution in the case say the two men were heatedly searching for a man who beat up Banda. Lake’s father says the young boy is expected to testify in the trial later Thursday.Lake is still receiving extensive treatments for his injuries.RELATED: Jury deadlocked in case against driver accused in San Ysidro hit-and-run?Banda was speeding west on Camino de La Plaza around 11:30 p.m. on May 6 when he reportedly ran a stop sign at Dairy Mart Road and crashed his pickup into a Honda Accord carrying the Lake family. In September of 2017, a jury found Banda guilty of misdemeanor charges of driving without a license, battery and vandalism. The jury was hung, however, on felony charges of hit and run causing death or permanent injury, DUI causing injury and driving with immeasurable blood alcohol causing injury.  1866
