Rap musician T.I. was not happy to hear that a Florida student was being denied a meal for being 15 cents short on the first day of school. Last week, T.I. announced he was going to pay for the student's school lunch bill, for the entire year. "This s--- is despicable!!!" T.I. tweeted. "This is the kinda s--- that deters kids from coming to school. I’d like to take care of her school lunch for the year. I hate to hear this type of thing happening to our children. Petty a-- peon a--, poor excuse for a grown person."Earlier this month, Kimberly Aiken told WKMG-TV in Orlando that her daughter, a sophomore at University High School in Orange City, Florida, was told that she owed 15 cents when she went through the lunch line. When she told the cashier that she didn't have any money on her, the cashier allegedly threw the food away.Aiken's daughter did not eat anything for the rest of the school day.According to CBS News, Aiken signed her daughter up for a free and reduced-cost lunch program at University High School. However, the program hadn't taken effect yet. Aiken suspects that the 15-cent deficit was carried over from last year.A spokesperson for the Volusia County Public Schools said the district has contacted the family directly about the issue. 1310
President Donald Trump was only a half-hour into his nine-hour flight to the G20 summit here in the Argentine capital when he decided to pull the plug on the most hotly anticipated moment of his trip: a lengthy face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But while Trump's abrupt decision quashed concerns that the President would repeat his cozy performance alongside Putin during their last meeting in Helsinki, Finland, new allegations by the President's former longtime attorney Michael Cohen revived questions about Trump's financial ties to Russia as he arrived for the international summit.Trump's planned meetings with a half-dozen other world leaders -- combined with the possibility of diplomatic snafus -- offer little promise of clearing the smoke of suspicion that is once again following him abroad.Eight minutes before he was set to meet with the summit's host on Friday morning, Trump began tweeting about the Cohen saga, saying his business dealings while a candidate were "very legal & very cool."Trump arrived in Buenos Aires for the summit late Thursday night, marking the first time he has set foot in Latin America in his nearly two years in office and kicking off what promises to be a whirlwind 48-hour visit. Friday will amount to the President's busiest day of diplomacy, but his most important meeting of the summit -- his dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping -- doesn't come until a day later.Trump's aides hoped a signing ceremony for the recently struck United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement would act as a centerpiece of the trip, and they scheduled an event for Friday morning. Persistent disputes with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau -- including over US steel and aluminum tariffs -- led to questions about who precisely from the Canadian side would be doing the signing. But on Thursday evening, an official with the Canadian Prime Minister said Trudeau would be at Friday's ceremony.Trump has hailed the agreement as evidence of his negotiating prowess and said the pact would benefit American workers. He's been unnerved in recent days by a shaky stock market and factory closures by General Motors, according to people familiar with the matter, and is hoping to be able to tout the new trade agreement in Argentina. 2295
President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will receive an initial dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine in their home state of Delaware on Monday according to Reuters and PBS.Vice president-elect Kamala Harris will also receive the vaccine later this month, the outlets report.Biden said earlier this week that he would receive the vaccine "sooner rather than later," adding that he didn't want to "get ahead of the line, but I want to make sure we demonstrate to the American people that it is safe to take."It's not yet clear whether Biden would receive his vaccination in a live TV broadcast, as Vice President Mike Pence did on Friday morning.Three other former presidents — Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton — have all independently agreed to be vaccinated in a public setting to instill confidence in the vaccine's safety to the public. This story is breaking and will be updated. 915

President Donald Trump's hasty announcement last week that he'll slap new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports has prompted a public free-for-all to finalize details of the plan, with efforts underway to assuage some concerns from within Trump's own party.Trump insisted on Monday that he wouldn't back off his promise to apply a 25% tariff on steel and a 10% tariff on aluminum. But there are indications the plan isn't yet finalized and that whatever is ultimately announced may be narrower in scope than initially previewed.Speaking with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday evening, Trump signaled he was flexible in how the proposed tariffs would apply to Canada, a person close to the trade talks said. During a conversation with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday, Trump indicated he had not made a final decision on what to do with steel and aluminum tariffs, according to person familiar with the call. 939
