(KGTV) -- El Cajon Police searched an illegal marijuana dispensary that resulted in six people being detained Thursday morning.Police served the search warrant after receiving complaints about the illegal business, which is located near homes on the 400 block of West Douglas Avenue.The City of El Cajon doesn’t allow marijuana dispensaries within city limits.When police arrived, they found marijuana, marijuana edibles, drinks and cash.Police said no arrests have been made in the case, but the investigation is ongoing. 547

(KGTV) -- A driver escaped serious injury after jumping from his truck after the brakes went out and just before the vehicle crashed into a Petco store in El Cajon.At around 10 p.m. Thursday, a man was driving his pickup truck near the 500 block of N 2nd Street when he noticed his brakes would not work.He managed to pull into a strip mall parking lot, opened his door, and then bailed from the truck.The truck continued to move and eventually slammed into the front doors of a Petco store.The driver was not injured, but his truck sustained heavy damage. The collision damaged the front door and broke several windows.No other injuries were reported.A building inspector was summoned to the scene to examine the pet store. 749

(KGTV) — A family jewelry shop in El Cajon is out tens of thousands of dollars after a brazen robbery Friday.A couple entered Ishtar Jewelry Store on Avocado Avenue and began browsing around. It was a seemingly ordinary evening."They were looking for different pieces of jewelry, bracelets, necklaces," said Nadin Toma, the store owner's daughter. "My mom was the one who was helping them out. The female found a piece that she liked."After that, Toma said the woman claimed she needed to get her wallet from the car to purchase the piece of jewelry."Our door to get in is an electric door," explained Toma. "We have to buzz anyone in and out just for security purposes."So, the woman was buzzed out, but Toma said she held the door open.That's when the man by her side made his move, jumping over the display counter, snatching up a handful of gold chains, then running out of the wide-open front door."They just grabbed and ran as fast as they could," Toma said. "They got away."Toma estimates the cost of the gold chains were anywhere from ,000 to ,000.But, the thief also left something behind. His fanny pack hooked onto the front door and broke off his body as he ran away.Toma said inside the fanny pack was the suspect's identification card, which she gave to police.She also said a Good Samaritan wrote down the license plate number of the car the couple used to get away."With any robbery, it's very painful for anyone who goes through it," said Toma. El Cajon Police continue to search for a wanted suspect while an officer recovers from being dragged down a road by a car. The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old David Pangilinan of Guam. He’s a school mate of mine back in elementary and middle school,” said Troy Torres. “Mr. Pangilinan’s family is very well known, a very nice family that has built up businesses a lot over the years, has contributed a lot to the community so his name does stand out,” he said, saying most people on the small island have heard of the family so this news has sparked attention across the island.A press release from El Cajon police said Pangilinan is the suspect in a case that started when an officer stopped to check on an SUV parked illegally and blocking traffic on Washington Avenue in El Cajon. He found a sleeping man and woman inside the car that was later determined to be a rental.The male driver of the car first tried to give false identification then started to put it into gear, so the officer tried to stop him. The officer got trapped in the car and was dragged down the road, then hit by another car. The SUV drove away and was deserted nearby, with the man and woman nowhere to be found. They are still on the loose and El Cajon police are asking for the public to report any information on their whereabouts.The officer is in critical condition as of Monday.A police officer in Guam said they’re on high alert and would know if he tried to return to the island because everyone who lands at the airport in Guam is required to go to a mandatory quarantine facility for six days. The first quake, which measured a 4.0 magnitude, was 1 kilometer east-northeast of the city at 6:13 p.m. The second quake was a 3.7 about 30 seconds later.A check of the U.S. Geological Survey's 'Did You Feel It' map showed shaking was reported in Calexico, about 12 miles away, and Yuma, Arizona.RELATED: Is there such a thing as earthquake weather?The quakes were "very quick", said an El Centro hotel clerk who did not wish to be identified.A server at Denny's said the shaking made his customers stand up out of concern, but no one was hurt.While no major damage has been reported, the quakes were strong enough to shake overhead lights and topple monitors on display at Staples, according to clerk Krosby Rider. 825
