SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hundreds of veterans who bravely served our country reunited this week in San Diego.It was the first Midway Class Reunion, also known as the Three Sisters Reunion.Veterans who served on the USS Midway, USS Coral Sea, and USS Franklin D. Roosevelt were invited to attend. In addition to touring the ship veterans were able to look at commemorative books from their deployments. “They get to meet others, they get to swap sea stories as we say in the Navy, get to swap sea stories with their friends and anyone willing to listen!” said a USS Midway Museum volunteer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For 10 days, San Diegans who enjoy the city's flair for craft beer will celebrate by, well, drinking beer.San Diego Beer Week showcases the county's more than 150 independent craft breweries from Nov. 1-10. Participating breweries host more than 500 events, including special tastings, food pairings, beer releases, and education sessions that introduce fans to new styles and even the brewers themselves.Beer Week officially kicks off during Guild Fest, which benefits the San Diego Brewers Guild and I Love A Clean San Diego. Attendees are treated to unlimited tasters from more than 60 San Diego County breweries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Friday, small businesses throughout San Diego came together against a proposed ban of Styrofoam and single-use plastics while proponents are holding their ground, citing environmental impacts.Some San Diego County cities voted to ban the Styrofoam containers at restaurants as part of an effort to clean up the environment.Those in favor of the ban say it will help keep debris out of the ocean. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fire crews are on scene after a commercial building burst into flames Saturday morning.The fire erupted near Carroll Road and Miramar Road just before 8 a.m. Saturday morning.More than 60 units responded to the three-alarm fire, according to authorities.By the time fire crews arrived on scene, flames were shooting through the roof. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but crews say power to the building was turned back on before the fire started. 548

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Heavy rain over the last few years has brought an unexpected splash of color to portions of San Diego.For the last month or so, Rainbow Eucalyptus trees have been shedding their bark, revealing a multi-colored trunk."It's outstanding," says Peter Fritsch, who walks by a handful of the trees along Sports Arena Boulevard. "Over time, the new bark will have those varying shades of color."According to the city, there are Rainbow Eucalyptus trees in Balboa Park, Sports Arena, the San Diego Zoo and parts of Mission Bay.
