LOS ANGELES (AP) — Three Los Angeles police officers have been charged with falsifying records reporting that people they stopped were gang members or associates. Prosecutors say the members of the Police Department's Metropolitan Division were charged with conspiracy in a 59-count complaint with obstructing justice and multiple counts of filing a false police report and preparing false evidence. In a news release, the LA County DA's office said Braxton Shaw, Michael Coblentz, and Nicholas Martinez are the officers being charged.Prosecutors said in the statement that the officers are accused of falsifying field interview cards they use to conduct interviews while out on duty.The cards, prosecutors say, contained false information and misidentified dozens of people as a gang member.The officers' union said Friday it expects the department to ensure the officers are accorded their due process rights and that any proven mischaracterizations are corrected.The Police Department says 21 additional officers are under investigation. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The popular grocery chain Trader Joe's says it won't be changing ethnic-sounding labels on its line of Mexican, Chinese and other international foods, adding they are not racist. Earlier this month the company said it was looking at changing some labels. But now it says it has no problem with ethnic-food labels like Trader Jose's, Trader Ming's and Arabian Joe. "Decades ago, our Buying Team started using product names, like Trader Giotto’s, Trader José’s, Trader Ming’s, etc. We thought then—and still do—that this naming of products could be fun and show appreciation for other cultures," a press release from the company reads.The company says they were created years ago in a lighthearted effort to promote inclusion and that customers still like them. "We continue our ongoing evaluation, and those products that resonate with our customers and sell well will remain on our shelves," the company said. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles entertainment executive reportedly received two houses in Tennessee free of charge from the man authorities say was responsible for the Christmas Day bombing in downtown Nashville.FBI officials said Sunday that they believe Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, was responsible for the bombing, which originated in an RV parked downtown and occurred at 6:40 a.m. Nashville time Friday morning. The blast damaged an AT&T building and interfered with cellphone service and police and hospital communications in several Southern states.They also said Warner is believed to have died in the bombing, and there was no indication that anyone else was involved in the crime.The Daily Mail reported late Saturday that a house worth 9,000 was transferred to 29-year-old Michelle Swing in January 2019 by Warner, and another 0,000 home was transferred to Swing last month.Swing transferred the first house to another person, the Daily Mail reported.The 0,000 house was raided by FBI agents Saturday as part of the investigation into the bombing. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the beating of a 91-year-old man that was captured on video and shared widely on social media.Thirty-year-old Laquisha Jones was sentenced Thursday following her no contest plea to elder abuse in December.Prosecutors say Jones severely beat Rodolfo Rodriguez in the face with a brick on July 4 as the man was taking a walk.
