(KGTV) - A documentary filmmaker is focusing his lens on migrants in Tijuana, hoping to show what life is like for migrants waiting to enter the U.S."Stuck in Tijuana" shows the crisis around the migrant shelters, where filmmaker Charlie Minn says he found a humanitarian crisis."I think we've all been there in life, at one point or another where we ask for something, a job, a relationship, a school, a career," Minn says. "The migrants are asking for acceptance."Minn says he found one shelter where 1,000 people were sharing one bathroom. In other areas he found children living without their parents.He adds that Tijuana's new reputation as the murder capital of the world makes things even more dangerous for migrants in the shelters.Minn spent the last week visiting college classes around San Diego to show the documentary to students. He hopes to inspire them to fight for change.This is Minn's third documentary focused on the San Diego/Tijuana border region. His first one, "Mexico's Bravest Man," profiled a police chief in Tijuana who survivied eight assasination attempts. The next movie, "77 Minutes," examined the 1984 shooting massacre in a San Ysidro McDonald's.Minn says he's captivated by the border in this area, because it's unlike any other region in the US.The movie will premiere Friday, March 22nd at the Theater Box in downtown San Diego. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - A former San Diego psychiatrist who reportedly had offices in Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Kearny Mesa and El Cajon pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of having sexual contact with seven female patients during office visits and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery for groping an eighth woman.Leon Fajerman, 75, will be ordered to serve 365 days in custody and be required to register as a sex offender at a sentencing hearing Jan. 18.Judge Francis Devaney will consider alternatives to actual jail time, according to Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Matzger, City News Service reported.REPORT: San Diego County psychiatrist charged with sexual battery, having sex with patientFajerman -- who has been a licensed physician in California since 1978 -- voluntarily surrendered his medical license in May, state records show.In September 2017, court records showed that Fajerman assaulted three female patients, including one who said he groped her breasts and buttocks, according to the Union-Tribune.The complaints were turned in to the Medical Board of California. Fajerman surrendered his medical license May 15, 2018.Fajerman received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires and had been in practice for more than 20 years, according to US News. 1309

(KGTV) - A South Bay public official is doubling down on anti-Muslim comments as he prepares a campaign to become Chula Vista's mayor.Hector Gastelum resisted calls to resign from the Otay District Water Board in 2017 after his tweets referred to Muslims as sub-human scum. He just qualified for the June run-off to become the Mayor of Chula Vista, the county's second largest city.In an interview, Gastelum said he isn't backing down from his prior controversial comments. "How can you not condemn rape? How can you not condemn pedophilia? Or throwing gays from the roof," Gastelum said, clarifying he is not referring to all Muslims. "If people don't like what I stand for, they can vote for the person that's going to take more taxes from them."Hanif Mohebi, who runs the San Diego chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations, called Gastelum's comments bigoted and hateful."Are we referring to other criminals by their religion?" he said. "(Charleston church shooter) Dylan Roof and many others. Are we referring to others by their religion? If not, then why are we singling out this community and referring to them by their religion."Gastelum is running against Incumbent Mary Salas, teacher Arthur Kende, and Parks Supervisor Daniel Schreck for the seat. The top two vote-getters in June move on to a November runoff. Gastelum's campaign statement has no anti-Muslim comments. (KGTV) -- Police arrested a man suspected in the death of a person after a fight erupted at a party in Chula Vista.According to Chula Vista police, 20-year-old Raymundo Ochoa-Juarez was arrested on suspicion of killing 20-year-old Deandre Bethel after a brawl in the 400 block of East Oxford on the evening of Oct. 30.Ochoa-Juarez was arrested with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals' San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force.Police did not immediately release details on the case, including the victim's cause of death.A second victim, a 21-year-old, is currently undergoing treatment and is expected to survive, police say.The Chula Vista Police Department is urging anyone with information to contact them or call the San Diego Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888)580-8477. 809

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Authorities have arrested a 44-year-old Casa De Oro man in connection with his husband's murder.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Daniel Scott Jordan was taken into custody Thursday in Reno, Nevada following a joint agency investigation involving San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force in San Diego, and the USMS Fugitive Task Force in Reno."Jordan was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility as a Fugitive from Justice and will await extradition to San Diego," said sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver.Investigators said that Jordan's husband, 38-year-old Kevin Powell, an employee of the City of Chula Vista, didn't show up for Aug. 11 "morning meetings and his supervisor became concerned.""Two sergeants with the Chula Vista Police Department went to the employee's home in the 4400 block of Carmen Drive in the unincorporated area of La Mesa to check on his welfare," said Seiver.The sergeants discovered Powell's body inside the home in the 4400 block Carmen Drive at around 1 p.m., said Seiver.Seiver said the preliminary cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330, after hours at (858) 565-5200.
