Agents were guarding the U.S.-Mexico border Sunday at 12:30 a.m. when they saw a person with two duffel bags walking along the secondary border wall. One of the agents who responded to the scene saw the boy hiding in thick brush. He had a remote-controlled car and 55 pounds of meth, agents said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former gang member who turned his life around in stunning fashion just got accepted to four different universities, including UC Berkeley and UC San Diego. 10News first met Apollo in 2010, as he and several others went to court to get off a gang injunction list for an Oceanside street gang.  An injunction prevents gang members from doing activities in certain areas, like associating with each other.  At that time, Apollo told us he had been out of the gang for several years after four years inside as a teenager."What hurt the most is hurting my mother... You want to amount to something, so (when i decided to get out) I'm trying to do this for her," said Apollo.Apollo was removed from the list about a year later, which is a rare feat. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 23 people were injured Saturday night when a structure collapsed at an indoor parkour center in Barrio Logan.21 of them were children. Two were adults, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.The collapse happened about 8 p.m. at Vault PK, a parkour center on Main St. and Sigsbee. Children who were above and below the structure were hurt.The injuries ranged from minor to moderate.Cory Brizendine, a parent, estimates there were about 50 kids there. They were called up to the platform for pizza."Once the majority of kids got up there the whole platform collapsed," he said.Shannon O'Brien was among the adults on the platform. "It was scary," she said.  She said it was a place parents sit to watch their kids, and she thought it seemed stable.  831

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital Thursday after a crash on SR-163 near Interstate 5 in Balboa Park.The officer was driving south on the highway approaching I-5 when he saw a pedestrian on the right shoulder.He slowed his patrol vehicle to make contact but was involved in a collision with another car.CHECK TRAFFICCHP officials said the veteran officer was disoriented and taken to Sharp Hospital as a precaution. There’s no word on the condition of the other driver.The CHP was not sure why the pedestrian was on the highway.Officers shut down one lane of south 163, backing up traffic in the area. 655

Dianne Rodriguez will be retiring in the next few years after decades of working in the hospitality industry. This year, she decided to build a retirement plan. She spent ,000, construction and permits included, for a pre-built granny flat.Work started in April. The landscaping and final touches were recently completed on a 375-square-foot, one bedroom, one bath tiny home, which she plans to rent out as vacation rental on Airbnb. "Living on a fixed income won't be easy. This will supplement our income and enable us to stay in San Diego, and do some traveling," said Rodriguez.She opened it up to her first tenant this week. The cost of the granny flat will add about 0 dollars to her monthly mortgage. She hopes to take in about ,000 a month from renting it out, which translates into an extra ,700.The company that built her tiny home is Instant Guest Homes. Owner Michael Avery says interest in tiny homes has surged since the City of San Diego relaxed its granny flat fees in May.
