The sixth leaders summit of BRICS - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - will be held in Brazil from July 15 to 16. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, Russian President Vladimir Putin, South African President Jacob Zuma and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the summit. They will also meet with leaders of South American countries.

The meeting was presided over by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

During the visit, Zhang said China is ready to work with Russia to push for substantial progress on major joint projects and to promote in-depth growth of the China-Russia relations with "substantial results of bilateral energy cooperation."

During the talks, Xi reiterated China's commitment to developing relations with Africa with sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith.

Zhang said the meeting of the China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee is aimed to further implement the important consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries and carry out all-round, in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral energy cooperation. He said the committee meeting will also make preparations for the October meeting between the heads of government of the two countries.
