But some drivers working for popular ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft are willing to break the law.A hidden camera, undercover investigation by Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit exposed those willing to risk children’s lives for the price of a ride.In Michigan, the law is clear: Children younger than eight or shorter than 57 inches have to be in a child safety seat.First responders say it’s a matter of life and death.“I’ve watched a child go forward, go into the windshield and have a crushed skull,” EMS paramedic Gary McMenamin said.WXYZ decided to put Uber and Lyft drivers to the test, to find out just how many were willing to ignore state law and drive a mother and her 2-year-old son without a child safety seat.Emily Gottschling and her son “Weston” hailed six rides — three to Uber and three to Lyft. Gottschling agreed to be part of the hidden camera investigation.After calling six different drivers, five of them were willing to illegally take Gottschling for a ride without a child car seat.“People have gotten in the car and never asked, so we just go,” one driver said.“If you’re alright with it, I’m okay with it,” another driver said.A different driver acknowledged the law, then said, “Well, I’ll be careful.”The last driver would not allow Gottschling into his car for fear if being ticketed. During the investigation, the drivers never actually rode anywhere and no laws were broken.Uber and Lyft both offered statements in response to the investigatiion.  1666

(CNS) - Authorities publicly identified a 30-year-old Whittier man who was fatally shot by officers after allegedly leading law enforcement on a chase from Orange to San Diego County.The shooting, which happened around 1 a.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 805 north of Orange Avenue in Chula Vista, involved officers from both the California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police Department, Sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.Christopher Ulmer of Whittier in Los Angeles County suffered "multiple" gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Seiver said.The sheriff's homicide unit is investigating the shooting "due to the multiple jurisdictions involved" in the incident, the lieutenant said.The chase began just before midnight Sunday when Santa Ana police attempted a stop because of a traffic violation, according to CHP spokesman Salvador Castro.The driver headed south on Interstate 5, then got on southbound I-805 and eventually stopped his silver sedan on the freeway near Orange Avenue.A news video Sunday appeared to depict at least 10 gunshots during the standoff. CHP and San Diego police vehicles could be seen stopped behind the car with some officers drawing their guns. After the shooting, the news video shows a police dog bite down on Ulmer or his clothing before officers turn him over and start first aid.Authorities have not disclosed if Ulmer was armed during the confrontation. So before you book your trip, see the list below to see where states currently stand on COVID-related protocols.STATES REQUIRING NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST BEFORE ENTERINGAlaska: If you are a non-Alaskan resident, you must submit a travel declaration, a self-isolation plan, along with proof that you've tested negative for COVID-19. If you do not have proof of testing negative, you must pay 0 for a COVID-19 test and then quarantine until your results come back. You also have the option to follow the work plan that your employer filed with the state. Colorado: Although the state does not have travel restrictions in place, Pitkin County, Colorado requires visitors to complete a health affidavit and provide a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours upon arriving or could face a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Connecticut: If you are traveling to Connecticut and are not from New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island, arriving from a state with a positivity rate of more than 10%, or from a country which the CDC has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice, you are directed to self-quarantine for 14 days.State officials said travelers could be exempt from the self-quarantine requirement by providing results of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours upon arrival and sending the test results to the Commissioner of Public Health via email: DPH.COVID-Travel@ct.gov or by fax: 860-326-0529.You could receive a 0 fine for non-compliance.District of Columbia: If traveling to Washington, D.C. from a state with more than 10 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people, you must receive a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours. Chicago is going by a color-coded system that places states in a red, orange, or yellow category. Travelers from “red” states must quarantine for 10 days upon their arrival or for the duration of time in Chicago, whichever is shorter. Visitors from “orange” states can obtain a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 72 hours before visiting or quarantine for 10 days. If arriving from “yellow” states, visitors do not have to quarantine upon arrival or have proof of a negative test.Maine: If you are traveling to Maine and are not from New Hampshire or Vermont, you can either prove you've tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours upon arriving in the state or self-quarantine for 10 days. If you are a child under the age of 18, you do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test if they are traveling with adults who have tested negative.Massachusetts: If are visiting Massachusetts, you are required to fill out a state travel form before arriving unless you're visiting from a lower-risk state. Travelers must also either self-quarantine for 14 days or prove you've tested negative for COVID-19 72 hours upon arrival.Failure to comply will result in a 0 fine per day.New Hampshire: If visiting or returning home and are not from Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island you must self-quarantine for 10 days upon arriving. You can also end your quarantine by getting tested for COVID-19 on day 6 or 7 of your quarantine. If the results are negative, you can end your self-quarantine.New York: If traveling to New York, you must fill out a Traveler Health Form before arriving. If you are from a noncontiguous state, US territory, or CDC level 2 or level 3 country, you must receive a COVID-19 test within 72 hours before traveling to New York. Regardless if you test negative, everyone must quarantine for three days upon arriving. On day 4, travelers must obtain another COVID-19 test and if both tests are negative, visitors can end their quarantine.Pennsylvania: If you are either traveling to the state or returning home, you must present a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering the state or quarantine for 10 days. Suppose a traveler chooses to get tested upon entering Pennslyvania or is waiting for test results. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Immigration and Customs Enforcement is investigating after a man died while in the agency’s custody. According to ICE, the 37-year-old Cameroon man, identified as Nebane Abienwi, died at Sharp’s Chula Vista Medical Center Tuesday. Abienwi was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night on September 26 to undergo treatment for a brain hemorrhage. According to the agency, medical staff at the center provided treatment after Abienwi remained unresponsive to questions and appeared to be paralyzed on his left side. He remained in the hospital until his death. According to records, Abienwi applied for entry into the U.S. without proper entry documents on September 5. On September 19, he was transferred into ICE custody. ICE released the following statement Wednesday night: 821
