The Supreme Court will hear arguments Tuesday on the Affordable Care Act.“If the ACA is repealed, millions of people across the country will lose access to their health care, but not only that, millions of people who have preexisting conditions will lose protections, which were put in place through the ACA that allows them to not be discriminated against from insurance companies,” said Rosemary Enobakhare, Director of HealthCareVoter.org.Texas is arguing the ACA is unconstitutional since Congress got rid of the tax penalty it carried if you didn't have insurance.Even though the high court has a new conservative judge and majority, legal experts don't think the justices will strike down the entire law.Even advocates for the ACA admit it needs to be improved, but don't want to see vulnerable populations lose coverage in the meantime.“When all the dust settles, and everything clears, and it's time to get to work, we’ve got to make sure to remind people what they ran on and we’ve got make sure that we have people fighting for folks in their lives and making sure they're prioritize health care,” said Enobakhare.Healthcare Voter would like to see Medicaid expanded in all states. They also want lower costs for prescription drugs.“In the United States, people pay 0 to 0 a viable. Folks who have diabetes need multiple vials of insulin in order to be able to manage their condition and so people are paying thousands of dollars, monthly, and this is with insurance to be able to stay alive. In South Tampa, close to the Hillsborough Bay, people didn’t get the flooding that usually comes with heavy rain. Instead they are dealing with the aftermath of high wind; downed trees and branches.The sound of saws cutting through bark will become a familiar one in the next few days, as people try to get rid of the trees uprooted by Irma.Nancy Callahan might not be excited about the work, but would choose it over a different outcome.“My son and his three-year-old and his friend were up in the attic space which is a big big room and bathroom,” Callahan explains. “And if it had gone across the house they could've been killed.”Just a few streets away, another tree fell taking the street's power along with it. “Well I was sure glad the tree felt that way and not the other way,” says Domenic Massari who rode out the storm across the street.The tree barely missed Marcy Mixon’s home.“There was a horrible explosion two of them,” Mixon remembers. “And I knew that the cable box was hit, the tree came down and the whole house shook.”It wasn’t just trees we saw in places they shouldn’t be. This stop light wasn’t doing much good on the ground. This downed billboard was no match for Irma’s wind.At the Dill’s family home clean-up is a family affair. In the span of less than 24 hours, Delta strengthened from a tropical storm into a power category 4 hurricane with its sights set on the Yucatan Peninsula.Moments after reporting Delta had become a major hurricane Tuesday morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that the storm had strengthened further into category 4 status. According to a reading from a Hurricane Hunter aircraft, Delta has maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, as of Tuesday at 10 p.m. CT. The storm's top winds dropped slightly from 145 MPH.The NHC says Delta will bring "extremely dangerous storm surge" and other hurricane-like conditions to the Yucatan throughout the day Tuesday before briefly making landfall on Wednesday. The Yucatan Peninsula is home to many Mexican resort towns, including Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Belize, a coastal country on the southern part of the peninsula, may also feel effects from Delta.While the NHC notes that there is "large uncertainty in track and intensity forecasts," Delta is currently expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coastline as a hurricane late in the week. Current forecasts have Delta making landfall anywhere from western Louisiana to the western Florida panhandle on early Saturday morning.Louisiana has taken the brunt of the impact of the 2020 hurricane season. Hurricanes Marco and Laura have already made landfall in the state, causing inland flooding and significant damage along the coast.
