SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities confirmed Monday that a deadly shooting in Chula Vista and a second shooting at Sunset Cliffs in April are related.Police say three people, Britney Canal known as "Giggles", 29, Cesar Alvarado, known as "Capone", 39, and Michael Pedraza, known as "Monster", 27, have been charged and are being held without bail for the deadly crime spree.According to a prosecutor, the murder charges with special circumstances may lead to the death penalty. To illustrate the callous nature of the suspects, the District Attorney said the three celebrated after killing a man in Chula Vista.  627

In this morning, she walked out to a surreal scene.Five stickers — most of them backing Sanders and purchased at local 2016 rallies — were gone. As an alarm went off last month, a thief is seen grabbing three flags from the fence outside his home. According to the Anti-Defamation League, some extremist groups have used the 13-star flag, but it remains a historical flag mainly used for patriotic purposes.According to the homeowner, in the past three years, more than two dozen flags, signs, and banners supporting President Trump have disappeared or been vandalized, some even burned.Those type of acts are condemned by a backer of a different candidate. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Border officials seized nearly two tons of drugs valued at millions of dollars at San Diego and Imperial Valley ports of entry last weekend.Between June 14 and June 16, Customs and Border Protection says more than 2,638 pounds of marijuana, 1093 pounds of methamphetamine, and five pounds of heroin were seized after being discovered inside doors, flooring, and other areas of vehicles and a tractor-trailer.In one instance, agents at the Calexico Port of Entry stopped a 34-year-old driver on Friday and referred the driver to a secondary inspection. There, canine agents made a positive detection and the port's imaging system discovered anomalies inside the vehicles flooring.Agents uncovered 40 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle.The same day, a tractor-trailer was stopped at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, arriving from Mexico with a shipment listed as "watermelons and cactus." An officer referred the driver to a secondary inspection, where a canine officer alerted agents to a positive detection in pallets of watermelons.Agents found 311 packages of marijuana, worth an estimated ,557,000, intermixed with the fruit.During another incident on June 16, agents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry stopped a 35-year-old man where a secondary inspection revealed 86 packages of methamphetamine, with a street value of 3,700.All drivers were turned over to Homeland Security agents for processing and all vehicles and narcotics were seized by CBP. 1494

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - At least six employees with the VA San Diego Healthcare System counseling center have tested positive for the coronavirus.On Thursday, 10News spoke with several people who work at the location. The employees we spoke with said when people started having symptoms, they asked to work from home but were told to keep showing up.Too afraid to use their names or participate in any type of recorded interview for fear of retaliation from officials at the VA, the employees detailed their concerns over the phone. RELATED: Six San Diego VA employees test positive for coronavirusOne person told 10News, “We were begging for about two weeks to do telework.”Another employee said, “We were reporting cases of potential COVID (COVID-19) and asking for telework to quarantine and keep safe, and the answers we got back were, ‘We'll look into that.’” The employees tell 10News they work with homeless veterans and veterans with histories of chronic homelessness. Employees point to one sent last week where the director wrote, “You may have seen news reports about increased telework opportunities for federal employees. Although some of you may have duties that could be performed remotely and would like to telework, at this time we need all employees who can work, to be present at their worksite.”At Wednesday's press conference with the County of San Diego, 10News asked county leaders if they aware of the cases at the VA office."The cases that are at that location are known to us and we are under an active investigation with the staff at that site," officials said. Per CDC guidance and VA protocols, individuals known to be at risk for a COVID-19 infection are immediately isolated to prevent potential spread to others.”Team 10 reached out to the VA spokesperson Thursday afternoon with additional questions regarding the allegations from employees.
