(KGTV) — Video showed a female duo running from an East County home carrying items, as a helpless homeowner who watched it all unfold on his doorbell camera.At 6 p.m. Thursday, a woman is seen walking up to the front door and appears to be looking for something. Eventually, she wanders to the back of the home, and that's when a loud sound is heard. That sound is believed to the sound of a screen being torn off and a back window being forced open. Don says watching on a Ring camera app was the homeowner, his father, who was out of town with his mother in Missouri. His dad then triggered the alarm and watched as the woman holding several items got into a car in the driveway. Moments later, another woman carrying a box stuffed with items jumped into the same car."I think he started to panic. He's not there and somebody's in the house," said Don.The homeowner is heard asking through speaker "Who are you? Who are you?" before the women drive off."They called me in a panic. They didn't have number for local sheriff," said Don. He called 9-1-1 and deputies arrived minutes later. But the women were long gone. According to the video, they weren't in the home long."In a seven-minute time frame, they went through literally every drawer in the house," said Don.Stolen from the home: A coin collection and dozens of pieces of jewelry belonging to his father and mother. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- While many drivers say a new Caltrans project in the East County is making SR-67 safer, some say it's literally making them sick to their stomach.Long considered one of the most dangerous roads in San Diego County, Caltrans is currently working on a million project to improve safety between Lakeside and Ramona.  A key part of the project is the installation of flexible posts called "channelizers" in the median.  Channelizers are bright yellow so they can be easily seen, helping prevent cars from drifting across the center into oncoming traffic."I think it'll save lives. I really do," Andy Jones tells 10News. Jones regularly drives the 67 for work.However, since the channelizers began being installed over the last few weeks, there have been a handful of reports of drivers becoming queasy.  One man told 10News the way the light reflects off the channelizers at night makes him feel nauseated.  The Ramona Sentinel reports that two people have called the Ramona Planning Board with similar complaints.Driver Donna Gines says the channelizers make her feel safer on her regular drives from Rancho Bernardo to Barona, but she can understand whey they could make some people feel ill."Some people don't react well to reflectors," she said. "It's kind of like a strobe light, maybe? And maybe it does make them dizzy."Caltrans tells 10News they have not received any direct complaints. However, after 10News raised the concern, Caltrans decided to do a review of how the channelizers are functioning.  They plan to send crews at different times of day to see if any changes need to be made. 1663

"Get them to safety and get back in and get 18 more."He’s part of the U.S. Veterans Corps and drove 14 hours from his home in North Carolina to support the so-called Cajun Navy, a nonprofit group of boat owners who began rescuing people after Hurricane Katrina.“That's what the Cajun Navy is known for,” he said.Now, they’re here for hurricane Laura, with storm damage that residents in this corner of Louisiana are just coming to grips with.There are some things that don’t mix: hurricanes, trees, and power lines. The damage is all over southwest Louisiana and it could be weeks before some people get their power back.Yet, that isn’t stopping some residents like Deitrick Broussard from trying to see if they can come back before then.“I was trying to rush and come and see the damage,” Broussard said, who evacuated with his pregnant wife.We followed Broussard as he looked around his home for the first time since Hurricane Laura hit.His relief was palpable.“I thought it was going to be worse,” Broussard said. “I don’t see any damage. I'm happy, so far. I just don't know what's inside there. But, yeah I'm happy it stood up. That’s great.”For many, though, getting back up on their feet will take a while.
