LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lawyers for the family of a black man killed by police in a busy Southern California parking lot said Monday that an autopsy found he was shot 10 times and died from choking on his own blood.The autopsy concluded that 26-year-old Diante Yarber died of asphyxiation and that had he been given medical treatment, he would have had a chance at surviving his wounds, attorney S. Lee Merritt said at a news conference.The autopsy was conducted by a private medical examiner at Merritt's request. An autopsy by San Bernardino County authorities has not been released and it's unclear whether it's been finished.Merritt, who is planning on filing a civil rights lawsuit in the case this week, said the private autopsy found that Yarber had wounds to his chest, back and arms and that he wasn't given medical treatment for "a great deal of time.""The injuries are consistent with defensive wounds ... as he was shielding himself and trying to escape the onslaught of bullets," Merritt said.Merritt did not respond to a message seeking a copy of the autopsy report. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles entertainment executive reportedly received two houses in Tennessee free of charge from the man authorities say was responsible for the Christmas Day bombing in downtown Nashville.FBI officials said Sunday that they believe Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, was responsible for the bombing, which originated in an RV parked downtown and occurred at 6:40 a.m. Nashville time Friday morning. The blast damaged an AT&T building and interfered with cellphone service and police and hospital communications in several Southern states.They also said Warner is believed to have died in the bombing, and there was no indication that anyone else was involved in the crime.The Daily Mail reported late Saturday that a house worth 9,000 was transferred to 29-year-old Michelle Swing in January 2019 by Warner, and another 0,000 home was transferred to Swing last month.Swing transferred the first house to another person, the Daily Mail reported.The 0,000 house was raided by FBI agents Saturday as part of the investigation into the bombing. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Uber and Lyft will keep operating in San Diego and across California -- for now -- with a state appeals court Thursday putting on hold a ruling requiring the ride-hailing companies to classify their drivers as employees instead of independent contractors.The decision by the state's 1st District Court of Appeal averted threats by Uber and Lyft to shut down all California operations at midnight. Uber officials said earlier this week they would likely shut down, and Lyft issued a statement earlier Thursday saying its operations would be halting at midnight.In a blog post on Thursday morning, Lyft stated: “At 11:59PM PT today our rideshare operations in California will be suspended. This is not something we wanted to do, as we know millions of Californians depend on Lyft for daily, essential trips.”Lyft added: “This change would also necessitate an overhaul of the entire business model -- it’s not a switch that can be flipped overnight.”The dispute traces its roots to the state's passage of Assembly Bill 5, which effectively required the companies to classify their drivers as employees, a move supporters said would guarantee their wages and assure them of other benefits and workplace protections.The companies, however, said the move would require a complete overhaul of their operations and would actually hurt drivers -- forcing them to work set schedules instead of giving them the flexibility to work only when they wanted.
