The Environmental Protection Agency is set Thursday to announce the repeal of the Obama-era Waters of the United States rule that extended federal authority and protections to streams and wetlands, according to a source familiar with the details of the announcement. The announcement is scheduled to take place at the National Association of Manufacturers, a trade group in Washington, DC.The 2015 regulation, commonly known as WOTUS, defined what bodies of water are protected under the federal Clean Water Act but was a favorite punching bag of Republicans, who ridicule it as government overreach. Democrats defended it as necessary to ensure waterways remained pollution-free.Thursday's repeal of the regulation is likely to draw intense litigation from the environmental community. Those groups have argued the Trump EPA's changes to the rule protects fewer small waterways and that could result in more pollution and put people at risk.A source who's been invited to the announcement tells CNN that EPA administrator Andrew Wheeler is expected to sign the finalized rule repealing the regulation."It's the first of two steps. First the regulation has to be repealed then the EPA will move to replace it with a new regulation," the source said. Wheeler unveiled a proposed replacement regulation last December. The EPA announced Wednesday that Wheeler will "make a major water policy announcement" but did not specify what the announcement would be. EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.President Donald Trump has repeatedly called clean water a priority for his administration. "We want crystal clean water and that's what we're doing and that's what we're working on so hard," he said in an environmental speech earlier this summer. But the Obama-era rule has been under attack from Trump and conservatives for years.Several states challenged the Obama-era rule, and a federal judge in Georgia 1966

The Bombacinos and their son, AJ, have learned a lot the past eight years."We were thrown into this world of special needs feeding that we never really expected," mother Julie Bombacino says. When AJ was only 6 months old, he had a 45-minute seizure. It was then that doctors placed a feeding tube in his stomach and prescribed him formula. But his reaction to the formula created a new kind of problem. "Those first five, six months of him being on a feeding tube, it was constant nausea and vomiting and constipation for him, and he was just miserable," Julie says. "He also wasn't growing like he was supposed to be, and we were miserable, and we were scared."So the Bombacinos started researching and found a community that was blending whole food instead of formula.Brian Liebenow is one of those people using whole food. "Probably 2012 up [until] now, I've been blending my food," he says.Liebenow is an Air Force veteran, who travels the world. But back in 2003, doctors found lymphoma in his tonsils, leading to rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Now, he's cancer-free, but the radiation severely damaged his jawbone. "The last jaw surgery I had in 2009 cut a nerve, and I wasn't able to swallow again after that," Liebenow says. As someone who had been able to eat whatever he wanted for a majority of his life, he wasn't ready to trade in steak and vegetables for formula. So, he started taking a blender to restaurants and feeding himself pureed food through his tube. He became an advocate for what's known as a "blenderized" diet, and another inspiration for the Bombacinos to make a difference in the feeding-tube world. "We're both from big Italian families; we love to eat," Tony Bombacino says. "Why can't our son eat the same way that everybody else does, just through his tube?"Within two years, the Bombacinos created 1853

The Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill that bans abortion after eight weeks, sending it to the desk of Republican governor Mike Parson. The House passed the bill with just hours remaining in the legislative session. The bill bans abortions after eight weeks of pregnancy. It does not include a provision to allow abortions in the event of rape or incest. Doctors who perform abortions would face a prison sentence of between five and 15 years.Missouri is just the latest state to pass a bill restricting abortion. Ohio, Georgia and Alabama have all passed laws in the hopes of curbing abortions in recent weeks. Republican controlled states have made a push to pass the laws now after the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, giving it a conservative majority. 800

The Mid-American Conference Basketball Tournament in Cleveland will not be open to the general public due to concerns about the coronavirus. Officials said the tournament will continue as scheduled from Wednesday through Saturday. However, only credentialed institutional personnel, student-athlete family members, credentialed media crews, and official team party members will be allowed to attend games. “The safety of all is our greatest concern. Since January, I have stated that any decision would follow the advice of state governmental officials and medical professionals. Following the feedback we received today we have taken this action which is in alignment with the recommendation of Governor DeWine,” said Mid-American Conference Commissioner, Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. The University of Akron has decided to cancel their pre-game rally at Pizza 216. “We fully support the health concerns and recommendations outline by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today,” Zips’ Director of Athletics Larry Williams said. “At the same time, it is hard to describe how disappointed we are that all of our wonderful alumni, supporters and fans are not going to be able to attend this special event in person. And, it is so very disappointing the student athletes will not be able to enjoy the passion reflected by the raucous crowds that always come out to support their Zips. Fortunately, there will be great television coverage for each game.”All tickets will be refunded in the form of a ticket to next year's tournament or a full refund. Fans can call their respective athletic departments or Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse at 216-420-2200. 1640
