Officers in New Jersey broke up a large house party in New Jersey with hundreds of people in attendance, authorities said.Police responded to a residence along Mill Pond Road in Jackson following a report of a suspicious incident around 8:30 p.m., according to Jackson Police Department.Officers arrived and spoke with several neighbors who said a house on the street was rented out to a group that was having a large party, causing a disturbance.Police contacted the homeowner, who said he had rented out the residence on Airbnb.The party expanded to about 700 people in attendance, with over 100 vehicles parked in the area, according to police.Officers began clearing the crowd from the residence and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office was contacted and authorized charges against the homeowner and party organizer for violating the state’s executive order in reference to the number of attendees allowed at a gathering.Officers from the Freehold Police Department, Howell Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and New Jersey State Police also responded to assist and clear the large crowd from the residence and direct traffic as people left the area, according to authorities.During that time, police also received a call from a resident nearby reporting people who attended the party had broken into their residence and were damaging property.An investigation determined a family member of the caller was at the original party and had invited a large group back to their residence. The group was then dispersed, police said.It took until 1 a.m. for the officers to clear the residences of partygoers and all the vehicles from the neighborhood.The homeowner, later identified as 40-year-old Yaakov Weiss and the party organizers, 23-year-old Patience Guanue and 22-year-old Alicia Hinneh, were issued summonses.Gov. Phil Murphy referenced the party during his daily coronavirus briefing Monday while discussing flare-ups, particularly among young adults who attended recent house parties."You're looking for trouble, you're absolutely looking for trouble, no matter how old you are," he said of people who don't comply with social distancing orders.State Police Superintendent Pat Callahan attributed the large parties to the lack of bars and restaurants open due to the pandemic.“I do think the fact that bars and restaurants are close then create this underground situation, which is certainly not what we want," he said.In a statement, an Airbnb spokesperson said the company is in full contact with the company and is offering their support."We strongly condemn the reported behavior, which represents both a clear violation of Airbnb’s community policies and a particularly serious abuse during this public health crisis," Airbnb said.The listing has since been deactivated and the party organizers have also been removed from the platform, the company said.WPIX's Kristine Garcia first reported this story. 3005

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Oceanside's shoreline was closed Tuesday after the sighting of a 9-foot long hammerhead shark. Oceanside Lifeguards temporarily closed the city's beaches from Wisconsin Ave. to Harbor Beach around 11:30 a.m. Police officers were dispatched on a boat offshore to keep an eye out for the shark, according to the city. The shark was last seen swimming about 100 yards offshore, south of the Oceanside Pier. The shoreline was reopened at 2:30 p.m. after a final search of the area came up empty.RELATED: 564

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Police have identified the man accused of firing a gun at an Oklahoma City restaurant on Thursday evenign. Police say Alexander Tilghman, 28-years-old of Oklahoma City, opened fire Thursday at 6:30 p.m. local time at Louie's restaurant on Lake Hefner. In an update sent around 9:30 a.m. police say officers found Tilghman dead outside the restaurant. Police say he was shot by two citizens.Witnesses say the men were yelling at the suspect to put his gun down, but he had large headphones on and was pacing near the restaurant. Witnesses say the suspect raised his gun at the men, and that's when the armed citizen shot Tilghman.Police say three people were shot: A 39-year-old woman and two female juveniles. All three are reportedly in good condition.A fourth person was injured, according to police, after falling and breaking his arm after the shooter started firing his gun.Oklahoma City police are holding a press conference at 11:30 a.m. local time.  1024

(KGTV) — Just a few blocks from the Oceanside Pier and the surfers who speckle the waters around it you'll find one of the richest troves of surfing history in the world.The California Surf Museum was established in Oceanside in 1986, chronicling a sport many see as a way of life."Surfing goes back thousands of years," says museum president Jim Kempton, a surfing legend and editor of Surfing Magazine in the 1970s. Kempton's never-ending love for the sport is evident as he leads 10News on a tour of the colorful museum that blooms with the science, art, and history of surfing."You start with these ancient Alaias (uh-lee-yuhs)," said Kempton, gesturing to a tall, thick surfboard made of Kola wood from Hawaii. "It was just part of the Hawaiian lifestyle. They did it all the time and women did it as much as men."LIFE IN OCEANSIDE: Oceanside's brewery scene helps spur city's growthThe earliest board designs, dating back some 4,000 years, were sometimes more than 20 feet in length. "They were very very long at the time," said Kempton. "And that was just the expectation that people had. They didn't imagine that people could stand on anything smaller than that." But that would change — along with so many other things — during the era of groovy, when imagination and new materials like foam and fiberglass redefined the sport. "Surfing was really in the same sort of youth movement that everything in the 60s was," said Kempton. "From swallow tails and pin tails. You know, flat bottoms, beveled bottoms, V-bottoms, all these different things." They've got chin rests for some of them," according to Kempton.But of all the boards on display at the California Surf Museum, there's one that stands out for its literal breathtaking quality. "You know we can always tell when people get to this part of the museum if we're out in the front," said Kempton. "Because you hear the gasps." It's the actual board 13-year-old Bethany Hamilton was on when she was attacked by a 15-foot tiger shark off the coast of Kauai in 2003.Kempton says the board found its way to the museum through an old friendship. "Her dad and I were friends in college back, you know, 20 years before. And I ran into him and I was telling him about the museum and he said, 'Well, would you like Bethany's board?' I said 'which one?' And he said, 'You know.
