CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista high school student was arrested on suspicion of posting a threatening message on social media.Sweetwater Union High School District said they notified police Wednesday that a threat against Olympian High School was posted on social media. A student notified the administrators after school of the social media posting, according to Chula Vista Police.The threat was thought to be credible at the time, police said, and alluded to a student "becoming a school shooter."Chula Vista Police officers identified the poster as a 16-year-old 10th-grade student and took her into custody at her home Wednesday night. Police said the girl admitted to making the social media post "as a joke and thought it would be funny."Officers searched the students home but did not find any weapons. According to the district, officers do not believe any actual incident would have occurred.The student was arrested and taken to Juvenile Hall for making the threat.The Olympian High threat is the latest in a series of threats made against San Diego County schools in the weeks since the tragic high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.RELATED STORIES: 1206

CINCINNATI – Rachel Smith was pregnant and terrified.She started leaking amniotic fluid in January after a garbage truck hit the car she was driving. Smith was in the hospital for two weeks while doctors tried to prevent her from going into labor. Her baby girl was coming seven weeks too early, and she didn’t have a safe place for the newborn to sleep once they got home.A nonprofit organization called Healthy Homes Block by Block came to Smith’s rescue, providing a new, portable crib for baby Dé’ja when she was strong enough to leave the hospital.“We wouldn’t have had a safe sleep space for her,” Smith said. "We wasn't prepared at that point, and she just happened to come."Now little Dé’ja is happy and thriving. But Healthy Homes Block by Block is worried other babies throughout Cincinnati’s East and Lower Price Hill neighborhoods won’t be as fortunate.That’s because the U.S. tariffs on goods from China have increased the cost of the portable cribs that Healthy Homes Block by Block gives away, and the nonprofit doesn’t have any more to distribute. 1071

(KGTV) - Chula Vista Police on Wednesday identified the man stabbed to death in what officers described as a road rage incident.Horace Williams, 36, was involved in the fight with 60-year-old Rickey Smith on Sweetwater Road Tuesday, police said.Witnesses told police Smith was following Williams’ van as the two yelled at each other. Smith’s pickup struck the van from behind, then Smith pulled in front of the van and stopped abruptly, witnesses said. The maneuver caused a crash, after which Smith left his truck and stabbed Williams, according to police.RELATED: Man stabbed to death in possible road rage incident in South BayWilliams, a resident of National City, died at the hospital.Smith is a FedEx employee but does not work as a driver. Witnesses said he was wearing his uniform at the time of the incident.“This report is deeply disturbing. He is the organist at St. Steven’s Church of God, where his wife is the director of the youth choir. Parishioners told 10News the Smiths are a “very nice couple”. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The City of Chula Vista is highlighting local businesses that are adapting to serving customers outdoors because of the pandemic. City officials started posting pictures on the city's Facebook and Instagram pages on Monday. Since Monday, they've highlighted barber shops, art galleries, restaurants and yoga studios. The city is calling them ABC, or Accommodating Business Champions. The plan is to feature a different business every day. Itaglo Pasta Bar was one of the businesses featured. Owner and Chef Alejandro Vicens says he was happy to see his business featured by the city. Like so many businesses, Vicens has moved everything outdoors to be able to continue to operate. The city says it plans to continue highlighting business that are moving outdoors. City staff also tells 10News they've been going around the city taking pictures of those that are doing things properly to serve their customers. On Sundays during the month of August, Chula Vista also approved for a portion of Third Avenue to be closed to traffic, so businesses can expand onto the street. 1111
