SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New data from WalletHub shows how California ranks on a list of best and worst states for military retirees.Overall, California ranked high when it comes to quality of life and health care, but much lower when it comes to the economy and homelessness.WalletHub ranked states on a number of other factors, with one being best and 25 being average.In the quality of life category, California comes in at 10th on the list of 51 states and the District of Columbia.From there, the data starts looking less attractive. According to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, the flowers were cut fresh from the hospital’s gardens and delivered to the 24 women who became mothers Sunday. The program, called “This Bud’s for You” is now in its 11th year. According to the hospital, the program was initiated by landscapers to cheer patients up. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Most school districts in San Diego County are still figuring out how to reopen classrooms in the fall. On Wednesday, the Office of Education released new guidance on how districts and charter schools can do that safely. They put out comprehensive guidance that includes recommendations to alter many aspects of everyday life for parents, students, and teachers. It includes symptom screening, altering classroom layouts to support physical distancing. They also recommend frequently cleaning common areas, wearing face coverings, and restricting visitor access. "Recommendations about not using water fountains because of the multiple touches there, or about spacing desks as far apart as practicable so that you can have distancing," said Watson, Chief of Staff with the Office of Education. On Tuesday, the San Diego Unified District approved their reopening plan. It would allow parents to decide whether or not to send their kids back to campus or continue online learning at home. The Grossmont Union High School District says they're currently conducting input sessions with focus groups. Their superintendent released survey results with parents, showing 59% of families want students to return to campus full-time. Meanwhile, 41% say they would prefer a blended or virtual learning option to continue. The Sweetwater Union High School District is hosting a virtual town hall on June 18 where parents can give input on what changes they hope to see. "Have a way of keeping records so that if someone ends up testing positive you can do the contact tracing to be able to go back and figure out with whom they've had contact," said Watson. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man they believe robbed the same San Diego gas station twice in six months.According to police, the first robbery happened at the Chevron on the 3500 block of National Avenue on June 2 at 4 a.m. with the second taking place November 3 at 3:52 a.m.During both robberies, the suspect stole cash and cigarettes, pointing a handgun at the clerk. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 35 to 40-years-old and between 5’6’” and 5’9” tall.During the June robbery the man was wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.
