SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) - Dozens of migrants filled out paperwork in Tijuana, getting ready to file for asylum ahead of the caravan.The Mexican city already flooded with migrants waiting for their turn to be processed at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.Lilia Velasquez, an Immigration Specialist and Lawyer, said the process could take months or even years. First, she said a group of about 10 migrants get a number. When they're called, they are processed and detained.It could take months to get to that step, which is why a group is given the same number. Whether or not they are granted asylum, the migrants then face another judge on charges for entering the country as a foreign citizen. Other groups, like churches, help the migrants once they enter San Diego.One migrant mother who filled out the paperwork Friday morning said she is not afraid, she is filled with hope that they're almost across the border and she thinks it will be easy to get asylum with her son. Two thousand to 3,000 more migrants involved in the caravan are expected to arrive by the end of the weekend.The migrants who filled out paperwork consist of the LGBTQ group who split from the caravan due to discrimination, Central Americans and Mexicans seeking asylum. 1845

(KGTV) — A man convicted of murder in Honduras was arrested after border agents say he was caught crossing the border with members of a migrant caravan in Tijuana.Miguel Angel Ramirez, 46, was arrested on Nov. 24 around 11 p.m. after he was caught entering the country illegally about a mile east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Two other men traveling with Ramirez were also arrested, one of who had previously been deported, according to CBP.Border agents say Ramirez admitted to being convicted of murder and was released a few months ago. The Honduran Consulate in Los Angeles confirmed he had served 10 years in a Honduras prison for homicide and another 3 years for robbery. "I care so much about their education and them as people. SANDUSKY, Ohio — Just as summer began, so did the immigration raids in northeast Ohio.The first one happened on June 5 at Corsos, a garden and flower center in Sandusky, Ohio where 114 people were arrested as their workday started.Two weeks later, U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided another company called Fresh Mark. ICE raided all three of the company's locations, including the one in Canton, Ohio. More than 140 workers were arrested there, many of them accused of using false identification to get their jobs."We want to support our families and we want to protect and defend them so that they don't get split apart which you see is happening all over the place," said Veronica Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA Ohio, a small, grassroots Latino organization based in northeast Ohio.Dahlberg and the folks at HOLA Ohio stepped in to pay some of the bonds for those arrested in Sandusky."So far we've helped 21 of the farm workers, so we post the bonds for them at the Cleveland Heights deportation office," Dahlberg said.HOLA Ohio has raised ,000 to put towards bonding out the workers, and so far they used over ,000.Dahlberg said the family reunions have been bittersweet."When you see those reunions and you can deliver mom to the children or dad back to the household and the people are just so happy," she said.
