AGUANGA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say seven people were fatally shot in Southern California at an illegal marijuana growing operation.The crime scene was discovered around 12:30 a.m. Monday when Riverside County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the community of Aguanga about 50 miles north of San Diego.Deputies found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds and paramedics took her to a hospital, where she died.Six more people were then found dead. A search did not locate any suspects.Authorities say they do not believe that there is a threat to the general public. 638

A man in Florida called police while Collier County Sheriff's deputies were chasing him Tuesday morning.The sheriff's office report said it all started because the suspect acted suspiciously. The sheriff's deputy went up to the car and smelled a smell similar to marijuana.The deputy spotted a baggie that contained a green leafy substance. The suspect then grabbed the bag, put it in his mouth, and sped away."I need help, please," said Aric Frydberg, the man who was arrested after the 7-mile pursuit on U.S. 41. "There's a police officer chasing me," he added.Fort Myers-based WFTX obtained the 911 call. The operator tried numerous times to get Frydberg to pull over.But during the phone call, Frydberg tried to get the operator to make some calls on his behalf. The first set of calls was to his parents."Call my mom, call my mom," said Frydberg. "Please call my mom," he added while on the phone.Then he took it a step further and wanted to speak to the president.  "Donald Trump is a close friend of mine," said Frydberg. "We made a deal," he added while he was trying to convince the operator.Frydberg then changed gears and tried a different strategy.  "My mom called me and said she was in a car accident in Homestead," he said. "My flesh and blood was in a car accident and I have to stop and help you," Frydberg added.Deputies eventually got him off the road and phone.The report goes on to say the deputies searched the car and found glass pipes with burnt leafy residue on them. They later field tested the particles and it tested positive for marijuana.Frydberg is being charged with tampering with evidence, resisting an officer, and two counts of battery of an officer. 1744

A woman crossing into the United States from Canada has been arrested following reports of a suspicious letter being sent to the White House.CNN and NBC News reported that an arrest had been made, per their sources.The arrest was made at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, NY, Scripps station WKBW learned through a source.On Saturday, the FBI confirmed that it was joining the USPS and Secret Service in a joint investigation of a suspicious letter addressed to a government facility. Letters addressed to the White House are screened off site before reaching the complex.CNN reported that the letter contained ricin.According to the CDC, Ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans.“If made into a partially purified material or refined into a terrorist or warfare agent, ricin could be used to expose people through the air, food, or water,” the CDC said, adding that there is no known antidote for ricin.The White House has been the target of ricin mailings in the past. In 2013, the FBI confirmed two letters were sent to the White House containing ricin. 1068

About 26,000 Ford vehicles are being recalled with three different safety concerns announced this week.The first one is for certain 2016-2020 Lincoln MKX and Nautilus vehicles with 16-way power seats. The issue is with the wiring of the seat harness and how close they are to the seat cushion pan. If certain wires are damaged from coming into contact with the seat cushion frame, Ford says the airbag system may not perform as intended.People with impacted models can go to a dealer to have them install flocking tape and check the wires.The second recall is for the newest model of F-650 and F-750 trucks. The vehicles are missing certain thermal protection components intended to reduce the interior cabin floor and seat attachment temperatures in hot conditions.The third recall affects less than 100 of the 2020 Ford Escape and Transit vehicles. The airbag may not inflate properly. People are encouraged to take their vehicle to a Ford dealer to have the airbag checked.Ford is not aware of any injuries from any of these safety concerns. 1052

After President Donald Trump announced early Friday morning that he tested positive for COVID-19, many are wondering what happens if a president becomes incapacitated.White House Physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a memo that the president and First Lady Melania Trump "are both well at this time," but did not say whether they were experiencing symptoms of the virus.Trump, who is 74 years old, meets several categories that science found makes COVID-19 symptoms worse — his age, his gender, and his weight. The president is technically obese through his body-mass index.The 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted on Feb. 10, 1967, deals with the issues of presidential succession and who runs the country if the president is incapacitated.Section 3 of the 25th Amendment allows the president to submit, in writing, that he is not able to discharge the powers of the office. In that case, the president will voluntarily transfer the authority to the vice president, but the VP does not become president and the president remains in office.Section 3 was invoked under President Ronald Reagan when he underwent a colonoscopy, and twice under President George W. Bush when he underwent colonoscopies.In the case of Trump, he could voluntarily transfer power to Vice President Mike Pence if he believes it is necessary.Section 4 also gives the president's Cabinet the ability to strip him of power if the Cabinet believes he has become incapacitated. This Section has not been invoked.
