(KGTV) - A series of unfortunate events may have led to an albino red-tailed boa constrictor named "Lemony Snicket" disappearing from a North County museum. Officials with the EcoVivarium children's museum in Escondido believe Lemony disappeared on April 29 during a tour of the museum's Arthropod Jungle. During the tour, staff took Lemony out of its cage to show guests, before returning it to its enclosure and locking the gate.Unfortunately, a security camera facing Lemony's enclosure was damaged that same day and did not capture what could have happened.Staff said they fear the snake may have been stolen. They told 10News a man in his 20s left the tour group and never returned shortly before the snake disappeared."We are all heartbroken, and just want him safely returned, no questions asked," the museum said of Facebook. Drivers entering the Kent Ranch HOA in Escondido are now greeted by high-tech license plate readers. According to the creators of the tech, the cameras help police solve an average of two to three cases a day nationwide. The cameras don’t have facial recognition, only the ability to identify the car. Critics of the technology worry the data could be abused and is an invasion of privacy. The HOA did hear from some residents about privacy concerns, but believed public safety outweighed the concerns. Residents can request their vehicle not be captured by the cameras. 739

(KGTV) — Police have arrested a North County doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient.On March 28, Escondido Police say a woman reported being sexually assaulted while unconscious by Dr. Leng Thai Ky, a 40-year-old anesthesiologist from Poway.EPD detectives investigated the woman's report over the weekend, and arrested Ky on Monday with the help of the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force.Ky, a doctor for the last eight years, has associations with Palomar Hospital, North County Pain Institute, Sharp Community Medical Group, Graybill Medical Group, and the Desert Pain Clinic in Rancho Mirage, EPD says.Police believe there are more, unidentified victims of Ky and urge anyone with information to call EPD at 760-839-4790. 760

Even though Jacob Walter Anderson was indicted on four counts of sexual assault, the ex-fraternity president won't spend a single day in prison.Instead, a plea agreement allowed the former Baylor University student to plead no contest to a lesser charge of unlawful restraint.If the 24-year-old successfully completes three years of deferred probation and pays a 0 fine, his criminal record will be wiped clean of the charge, and he won't have to register as a sex offender, CNN affiliate KWKT said.The plea agreement between Anderson's defense team and the McLennan County, Texas, district attorney's office infuriated the victim and her attorney."The evidence is incredible," Vic Feazell, the woman's attorney, told KWKT. "He nearly choked her to death. He raped her violently. He left her passed out in her own vomit -- the rape exam confirmed rape."The incident happened February 21, 2016, the woman said, according her victim impact statement posted on KWKT's website.She lambasted the court for accepting the plea agreement."I am devastated by your decision to let my rapist Jacob Walter Anderson go free without any punishment," the woman said."He is now free to roam society, stalk women and no one will know he is a sex offender. When I tried to pull up my pants or sit he shoved me to the ground and shoved his penis back down my throat and continued to choke me," the woman said."When he forced me up again and started to rape me vaginally again I blacked out permanently. When I was completely unconscious he dumped me face down in the dirt and left me there to die. He had taken what he wanted, had proven his power over my body. He then walked home and went to bed without a second thought to the ravaged, half dead woman he had left behind."As he walked out of the courtroom Monday, Anderson declined to comment to the media.CNN reached out to Anderson's defense team and the victim's attorney Tuesday, but has not received responses.The McLennan County District Attorney's Office said the person handling all media inquiries, Rebecca Akins, is out sick Tuesday. (KGTV) -- Encinitas lifeguards are investigating after a Panga Boat washed ashore Friday afternoon.According to lifeguards, the 20-foot boat washed ashore around 4 p.m. on the 300 block of El Portal Street and about 11 people ran from the vessel.Lifeguards say they don’t believe anyone was injured or needed medical attention.Border Patrol, Homeland Security, and the Sheriff’s Department were all notified about the incident.
