Actor, writer and media producer Tyler Perry has offered to pay for the funeral for Rayshard Brooks, the man who was killed during an altercation with police in Atlanta on Friday.Attorney L. Chris Stewart, who is representing Brooks' family, said during a press conference on Monday that Perry had offered to pay for funeral arrangements."We want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with, who will be taking care of the funeral for the family," Stewart said. "And it's support like that and it's people who are actually in this community, that love the community, that want healing and families like this to never have to go through something like this. It's a step forward and we want to thank him for such a generous move."Perry has been known to provide funeral services for others in the past. According to ABC News, he paid for the funeral services for two 15-month-old twin sisters who died after they left in a hot car in Georgia in 2016. In 2019, he reportedly paid for the funeral of a single mother of four children from Milwaukee.Earlier this month, boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. paid for the funeral services for George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis police custody. Brooks was killed on Friday when police attempted to take him into custody for DUI. A struggle ensued, and Brooks stole an officer's stun gun and tried to flee the scene. Officer Garrett Rolfe shot Brooks in the back twice, and Brooks later died in surgery at a local hospital. Rolfe has since been fired from the Atlanta Police Department, and a medical examiner has ruled the death a homicide. 1595

According to a Tweet from a new bride, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg officiated the wedding of a family friend on Sunday.The photo is the first public sighting of the Supreme Court's oldest justice since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the high court to conduct business from home, NBC News reports.According to USA Today, Ginsburg presided over the wedding of Barb Solish and Danny Kazin on Sunday."2020 has been rough, but yesterday was Supreme," Solish wrote in a tweet, which included a photo of Ginsburg presiding over the ceremony.According to The Associated Press, a Supreme Court spokesperson said that Ginsburg is a family friend of one of the families and that the ceremony took place at a private residence. A white Arkansas man faces up to 20 years in prison after being found guilty in the beating of an African-American man during racially charged protests last summer in Charlottesville, Virginia.Jacob Scott Goodwin, 23, was among a group of attackers captured on widely shared cell phone video in the August 12 beating of DeAndre Harris in a parking garage during the Unite the Right rally.Goodwin was found guilty of malicious wounding by a Charlottesville Circuit Court jury Tuesday evening. He remains in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail and will face sentencing on August 23.The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years and a ,000 fine, according to prosecutor Nina-Alice Antony.Phone calls to Goodwin's attorney were not immediately returned.Goodwin was the first of four alleged attackers to face a trial in the beating of Harris. Jury selection is set to begin Wednesday in the trial of Alex Michael Ramos, 34, who also faces a malicious wounding charge for his involvement in the attack.Two other men, Daniel Borden, 18, and Tyler Watkins Davis, 49, have trial dates set for the summer.Vonzz Long, a friend of Harris', told CNN the two of them were part of a group of people staging counterprotests that day against neo-Nazis and white supremacists. He said they got into an argument with people from hate groups who threw things and shouted racial slurs at them, and he and Harris got separated during the ensuing chaos.When Long eventually found him, Harris was surrounded by neo-Nazis in the garage and being beaten bloody, he said.Harris had faced an misdemeanor assault charge after a white protester claimed he had struck him in the head with a flashlight moments before the parking garage beating. (KGTV) -- An 86-year-old man was hit and killed in the parking lot of an Alpine shopping center Thursday evening, according to authorities. Police say a truck hit the man on the 1200 block of Alpine Boulevard around 4:12 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say the driver of the truck didn’t see the man and backed over him outside a Chase Bank.A worker at a nearby Carls Jr. said the man was stuck under the truck following the accident. Authorities said the incident was a tragic accident and the driver won't face any charges.   572

According to multiple reports, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis may be reuniting for a limited series reboot of "Sex and the City" on HBO Max - sans Kim Cattrall.According to Vanity Fair and Vulture, all the original stars are reportedly slated to come back to join the reboot - except Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Cattrall has said that she is not interested in returning to the series.The original series ran for six seasons on HBO and spawned two movies.
