SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The North County Transit District announced plans last week to expand the COASTER rail line to the downtown convention center.The San Diego Pathing Study outlined the plan to bring COASTER service to the convention center. The long-term endeavor would extend service from the Santa Fe Depot to the Convention Center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a California Firefighter is hoping for his safe return after authorities in Mexico arrested two people linked to the case.Authorities announced on Friday that they had arrested a couple linked to the case. The couple has been identified as 32-year-old Fanny N. and 27-year-old Santos N.They say the couple had bank cards with Aguilar's name on them, and the cards were used at businesses in Ensenada, Rosarito, and Tijuana. The arrest was made Thursday.Aguilar disappeared in August when we went to his second home in Baja California.According to Mexican authorities, Aguilar had arranged to meet with one of the suspects at a Rosarito address. They believe it could have been a set up to kidnap him. Aguilar tried to escape.Authorities say neighbors heard gunshots and investigators found bloodstains in the area, but they have not been able to locate Aguilar.Aguilar's cousin in San Diego county, Nancy, says she is hopeful that her cousin will be found."I have faith that he's out there alive, and we are going to find him," she said.Authorities are questioning the suspects for leads. 1129

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Navy has called off search and rescue efforts to find a Sailor from the USS Theodore Roosevelt who reportedly went overboard.Navy crews from the San Diego-based carrier and five other vessels ended the search at sunset on Saturday. Crews and the U.S. Coast Guard searched more than 607 square nautical miles for more than 55 hours off the coast of Southern California.Ships began rescue efforts after a lookout spotted what they believed to be a person in the water at about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Navy.RELATED: San Diego-based USS Theodore Roosevelt searching for Sailor overboardThe Navy ad the Sailor's family identified him as 20-year-old Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Ethan Garrett Goolsby of Texas.Goolsby reported to the USS Theodore Roosevelt in July after his initial training as an aviation ordnanceman in Pensacola, Fla. He was promoted to his current rank on Sept. 16. "The loss of our Sailor is felt deeply by all on board," said Capt. Eric Anduze, commanding officer of Theodore Roosevelt. "The entire Theodore Roosevelt team sends our deepest condolences to the family of our missing shipmate."The Sailor's family was notified before the search stopped. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego's Development Services division is still investigating the platform that collapsed at a Barrio Logan gym this weekend and injured 21 minors and a few adults. At least one minor is still in the hospital with a broken pelvis, we're told.A city spokesperson reported to 10 News on Tuesday that no further details would be released until the investigation is complete.On Monday, the spokesperson said there were definite code violations and missing permits at Vault PK parkour gym, where the incident happened. Whether the gym will face any penalties is still unknown. The gym has only been open for a few months. On a Facebook post, it appears much of the construction of the facility was done by the owner's immediate family.  On Monday, San Diego Police Department's media relations division confirmed that the incident is a civil matter and the department will not be recommending any criminal charges, including criminal negligence.  There is another Vault PK parkour gym in Torrance. We called the facility today. Someone answered the phone and said the facility is closed for inspections. No further details were given.  1222

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Surveillance video captured the moment after a thief stole a woman's wallet inside a Midway District grocery store.According to San Diego Crime Stoppers, the theft happened on Sept. 23 inside the Ralph’s grocery store located at 3345 Sports Arena Blvd.While the 73-year-old female victim was in the freezer section, the man waited for the victim to open a freezer door and then approached her shopping cart. The suspect quickly removed the victim's wallet from her purse, which was placed at the top of the shopping cart.The victim was right next to the cart but was looking inside a freezer when the theft occurred.The suspected thief walked away without the victim realizing what had happened. The total loss of the wallet and cash inside it is over ,500.Investigators reviewed store surveillance footage, which showed the man following the victim throughout the store and appearing to target her.The suspected thief is described as a white male, approximately 5’10“ tall, 175 lbs., with tanned skin.
