The trial is reaching its end as President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani continue to bash special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia and Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.A win for Mueller's team in the high-profile prosecution of a top Trump campaign figure would send shockwaves through Trump's orbit of aides, friends and outside advisers -- and heighten anticipation for Mueller's next moves. A loss would increase the chorus of calls for Mueller's investigation to end.RELATED: Giuliani claims Mueller waiting for Manafort verdict to negotiate Trump interviewIn his closing, Andres argued that Manafort lied -- repeating the word to the jury several times. He said Manafort hid his income from Ukraine, lied to federal authorities and defrauded banks. He alleged that Manafort's tax returns from 2010 through 2014 are false, and told jurors they must find that Manafort willfully and knowingly lied on the official IRS forms about his income and foreign accounts. The prosecutor punctuated this by showing the first of several emails the jury will revisit today -- in which Manafort called one of the 31 foreign accounts "my account." Manafort wrote it "when no one was looking. He did not know one day he would be sitting in this very courtroom," Andres said.Manafort is facing 18 charges of tax and banking crimes and has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. 1424

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, however, warns against buying mifepristone over the internet and says consumers who do so bypass distribution safeguards in place to protect them. As a result, the FDA said Tuesday morning that it's evaluating what Aid Access is doing "to assess potential violations of U.S. law."Advocates for abortion access say restrictions on mifepristone distribution serve to prevent women, girls and transgender men from getting the medical care they need and want.Aid Access's founder, Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, said the FDA's handling of the drug is "based on politics, not science," and that the safety concerns the agency points to are "totally unfounded.""That's the problem," she said. "I have no worries. Everything I do is according to the law." 778

The under-construction bridge was meant to connect the FIU campus to the Sweetwater neighborhood, home to more than 4,000 of its students, according to a news release on the school's website. FIU is the second-largest public university in Florida, with about 50,000 students. The 174-foot main span had been assembled on the side of the road, allowing traffic to continue. Then, on Saturday -- at the start of FIU's weeklong spring break -- a rig moved the span into position over the street as community members gathered to watch. The process took about six hours.A time-lapse video that FIU posted to YouTube shows some of the assembly, as well as Saturday's maneuvering of the span into place over 8th Street. The bridge was scheduled to open to foot traffic in 2019, and was designed to boost safety on busy 8th Street, where an 18-year-old FIU student was fatally struck by a vehicle in August."It is exactly the opposite of what we had intended, and we want to express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of those who have been affected," Rosenberg, the university's president, said in a video."The bridge was about collaboration, about neighborliness, about doing the right thing," he said. "But today, we're sad. And all we can do is promise a very thorough investigation, to getting to the bottom of this and mourn those who we have lost."The bridge was designed to withstand the strength of a Category 5 hurricane, according to a fact sheet on FIU's website, and it was supposed to last for more than 100 years. It cost .2 million to build and was funded through a .4 million grant from the US Department of Transportation.Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) technology was used in the construction, according to the university. ABC streamlines the building process so bridge construction projects can be completed more quickly and be more cost-efficient. 1888
