BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Legislators on Wednesday expressed support for bills that would empower local legislatures, as they deliberated draft amendments to three laws on people's congresses.

Weighed by a property market downturn, cooling investment growth and unsteady demand both at home and abroad, China's economy has stumbled during the past two years and is widely expected to post its weakest growth in a quarter of a century this year.

According to Wang, discipline inspections have intensified since the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012, following which the body had overseen 118 inspections.

The products aim to provide a platform for commodity trade and investment cooperation for governments and companies of countries along the Belt and Road, Xinhua President Cai Mingzhao said.

"What happened in the past, if not forgotten, can serve as a guide for the future," he said.
